Libby lied to save 2004 election for Bush
This from E.J. Dionne

Tuesday, November 1, 2005; Page A25

Has anyone noticed that the coverup worked?

In his impressive presentation of the indictment of Lewis "Scooter" Libby last week, Patrick Fitzgerald expressed the wish that witnesses had testified when subpoenas were issued in August 2004, and "we would have been here in October 2004 instead of October 2005."

Note the significance of the two dates: October 2004, before President Bush was reelected, and October 2005, after the president was reelected. Those dates make clear why Libby threw sand in the eyes of prosecutors, in the special counsel's apt metaphor, and helped drag out the investigation.

As long as Bush still faced the voters, the White House wanted Americans to think that officials such as Libby, Karl Rove and Vice President Cheney had nothing to do with the leak campaign to discredit its arch-critic on Iraq, former ambassador Joseph Wilson.

1. It wouldn't have mattered. They had already turned everything into
a referendum on Gays, homosexuality, and gay marriage.

People didn't vote on the economy, the war, or how bad of an administration they were. People voted strictly on shit that didn't matter. That is how they took additional seats in the House and Senate.

6. They got five of those Congressional seats by screwing the people of Texas
With an illegal off season redistricting scheme financed by illegal Tom Delay driven donations. We can't let that get lost in the noise.

11. Of course it would have mattered...
they stole the election by about 3% points, anything much higher than that would have risked something too obvious. Think of the campaign commercials that could have been, with some of these roaches in the spotlight. It would have had a huge impact!

13. Don't believe the hype
That gay referendum is what they want us all to believe but that really wasn't true. All those votes they say they won they really stole. There is no moral majority in this country just amoral thieves.

2. Where are the leading democrats on this? Where the hell is John Kerry?
They stole the election from all of us, but he is the person who should be sitting in the White House.

Democrats need to be getting LOUD and VOCAL. We either keep taking this shit or we don't. If we let this go, then we need to shut up from here on out.

3. This is what DU was saying all last year. Why did no media report what
was so obvious to many of us back then?

They knew. They just wouldn't say it publicly, or weren't ALLOWED to say it publicly before the election.

4. I don't think this is right. I think he lied to save the war
for the profiteers.

7. One goal needs the other. To save the war for the profiteers, they needed
to stay in power. It was constant war with Bush, or a certain plan for withdrawal with Kerry.

8. Think so? They already had the voting machines and the
media. What they needed was CIA to back up their bs. And CIA seems not to like Cheney/Rumsfeld Inc.

9. Heheh...sadly true. Voting machines trump everything else and give them
what they truly need.

10. Just thinking. They needed CIA AND the appearance of
the consent of the governed. And that's where Joe Wilson strolled in, at the nexus of those two elements?

5. And he did it all knowing that he would be pardoned in 2008
with his legal bills paid for in the meantime by his friends, who will give him choice legal work and other rewards when he gets out of jail after two short years.

15. And the fucking media obstructed justice last year
Tools for Treason

Spinners for
the sinners
are snaking
through the airwaves.
Sickening sycophants
normalizing treason
or something.
Apologizing,appeasing,
Willfully ignorant?
Criminally stupid?
or lying for the
lying liars.

And you mother fuckers
in the media
are in on it.
With blood dripping
from your hands,
How does it feel
to slaughter
your country?
Was last years election
fun enough for you?

Having a job doesn't matter if you don't need money.

17. He can consult, advise, trade on his contacts
all at arms length so he doesn't embarrass anybody. Still lots of tricks available to an insider like Libby.

18. My thoughts exactly when Fitzgerald made that statement
I knew exactly why we weren't at this place a year ago. Just imagine if we had been...President Kerry sounds so good.
