From Daily Kos-Excellent point and observation
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/31/AR2005103101386.html

E.J. Dionne gets at an important truth:

Has anyone noticed that the coverup worked?

In his impressive presentation of the indictment of Lewis "Scooter" Libby last week, Patrick Fitzgerald expressed the wish that witnesses had testified when subpoenas were issued in August 2004, and "we would have been here in October 2004 instead of October 2005."

Note the significance of the two dates: October 2004, before President Bush was reelected, and October 2005, after the president was reelected. Those dates make clear why Libby threw sand in the eyes of prosecutors, in the special counsel's apt metaphor, and helped drag out the investigation.

1. I agree. I've been thinking the same since
Fitzgerald's word struck the same chord in me.

No pardons. Let him pay.

3. its the smoking gun showing that * is technically "un-presidented" ...
a mangling of a term, to be sure, but my point is quite obviously if Libby got indicted in 0ct '04 instead of Oct '05, there is NO WAY IN HELL the republicans would have been able to "squeak by" -- no effective theft of the election could have happened since their really would have been a majority against them.

It's a long shot, but this rubbed into people faces could drop the polls another 10% probably. Wouldn't seeing sub-30% approval look nice as the emperor's new clothes?

Too bad there is no Presidential Recall as their is with CA governors...
