VIDEO: Atrocity? Iraqis claim US killed 40 civilians (Channel 4 UK)
Published: 31 Oct 2005
By: Lindsey Hilsum

Atrocity or precision attack? Local people in Western Iraq have accused American warplanes of hitting two houses, killing forty people, twelve of them children.

The US military has denied any knowledge of civilian casualties - it said a building being used by an Al-Qaeda cell was bombed, along with a munitions store.

The air strike happened in the Al Qaim region of western Iraq, near the town of Karabila. Our International Editor Lindsey Hilsum is in the area - with US Marines near the Syrian border.

1. "US military denied any knowledge..."
yeah, that's all they're good for anymore these days. Lying. Lying to us, the soldiers, the civilians and the families of everyone.

2. Another little "ooops!"
Didn't mean to, but in a war mistakes happen. Freedom is messy. :sarcasm:

4. When the fuck are our elected officials going to realize we HAVE to leave!
War that was founded on lies and greed and yet some want to send more people to the occupation that continues to ensure many many more deaths.

There is no end game, there are no road markers that matter because the violence that continues is the same violence that continues to make people think we need to stay guess we have to wait for a few more thousands of our troops to die (because they dont care about any of the others that will die).

Sorry but every day I get more an dmore pissed at those that think there is some job to finish, some security we can establish while we are there.

Wake up! We are the problem, we are the reason for the bulk of the violence. We are guilty of crimes against humanity.

Wake the fuck up! It will never ever get better while we are there. there is no argument beyond that one simple point not "cut and run", not "stay the course", not "finishing the mission"... none of those matter beyond the point of us being the enemies, we are the bad guys not just in Iraq but over the whole world. The longer we stay the worse it will be, those that continue to want to stay and finish some undefined job are just trying to save face and there is no loss of innocent life worthy enough of that hypocritical ego driven goal.

... and if any of you say preventing civil war, let me just ask you to prove it.

5. Well said Cults4Bush!
Sometimes I wonder if the goal is actually just arms sales. That is, the administration actually wants to encourage the civil war because they sell more guns that way. Often it seems to me like that's the sole motivation driving the occupation.
