It amazes me the people who continue to defend Bush. The unemployed, the un-insured, the underpaid minimum wage earner, the unrepresented worker, the uneducated WalMart employee, the un-armored soldier --really Bush is the President of "un".
Yet, somehow, like alcholics or drug addicts, they continue to spew the Republican talking points, all the while their lives get worse and worse. While an antidote lies within their reach, the refuse to face the reality of the situation, and take the appropriate measure to help their cause.
It seems confounding to me. Is it loyalty? ignorance? Whatever, it baffles me to watch people in dire straits continually support those who would oppress them. The watch Hannity and O'Reilly and listen to Limbaugh all the while shaking their heads in agreement like some protein and sleep-deprived recruit for a religious cult where you wear purple Adidas and wait for the comet to come and get you.
These same people who talk about "democracy in the Middle East" are the same crowd who willingly support Wal Mart and in effect Red China, perhaps the most dangerous country int he world politically, economically, and militarily. Do they not realize that every DVD player made in China they purchase not only undermines the very jobs they so desperately seek, it also supports the Communist regime?
Personally, a part of me thinks that filibustering Alito is wrong. Not becaue he is a good man or outstanding judge (I do not believe either of those things), but because as anyone who has ever spent time around an alcholic knows, you have to let them bottom out.
Maybe it is time to let the country continue it's implosion at the hands of the Bush theocrats. It appears that the lessons of the Nixon era were forgotten under the years of prosperity brought about by good solid Democratic leadership.
Perhaps it is time to let them make their bad AND lie in it, instead of having the Democrats bail them out time and time again, only to hear them complain about the very people who save them from themselves.
