Alito Nomination - my letter to Senator Landrieu
Dear Senator Landrieu:

I urge you to oppose, with great vigor, the appointment of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the Supreme Court. Given Mr. Bush's history, the American people, and particularly our elected representatives, must be sceptical, a priori, of any nomination proposed by the White House. The nomination of Harriet Miers came from cronyism or cynicism, and despite, or rather because, of Judge Alito's record, the motive clearly hasn't changed.

Justice is rightly portrayed with a balance scale. We have yet to see evidence that Mr. Bush will nominate to the Supreme Court an individual who places objective analysis, precedent or sensitivity to conflicting issues and principles above a partisan, ideological pursuit of a pre-ordained agenda. Judge Alito's nomination proves, once again, that Mr. Bush intends a radical recreation of America "in his own image."

Please oppose the nomination and vote against the appoihntment.

Sincerely,
