Dick Durbin on fire over ANWR on C-Span
He's completely tearing up the argument to drill in Alaska citing that the oil if drilled is not even destined for use in America but for export and more beneficial for "struggling" oil companies not for the American consumer.

I'm sure he'll eventually get to the fact that even if we exported none of it we're still looking at dropping dependency on foreign oil by only 3% over the next 20 years...

8. We need more refineries......
As of 2002 according to the DOE we sit on about 30 billion barrels worth of proven reserves. Our consumption rate is currently at 20 million barrels PER DAY and is increasing exponentially.

This is not even taking into consideration how much oil we export out.

We need an alternative energy plan and we need it soon. PERIOD There is no producing or drilling our way out of this issue.

9. We HAD a perfectly good
alternative energy plan with President Carter. Then came Reagan and the Republicans and Vischy Dems.

10. Had a decent plan with Gore too Kerry also flirted with
funding for alternative sources namely ethanol.

Think 5 years later where we could've been had any of those plans started back in 2000.

Maybe not exactly where we want to be FAR closer than we are today under the flat earth cult.
