I've been watching for the last two hours. Haven't seen a single Republican.

Shame!

1. We'll have to see how it all shakes out
I'd be surprised if there ended up being none there. What major Democrats are there?

Granholm, Obama, the LA Mayor, both Jesse Jacksons, Sharpton, etc.

I can't see everyone. Those are just the ones they recently showed.

edit to add - the entire Black Caucus - all Democrats, of course.

2. Seating might be strategic. Condi was listed with others.
Can't remember the list they gave on TV news the other day. Kawame is in under attack as being one.

They're as scarce as hen's teeth in that crowd.

4. I call that uncommonly civil of them
Let's face it, the GOP has never been comfortable about extending the inalienable rights under the Constitution to black people, and they've spent the 40 years since the civil rights legislation era trying to undo what's been done. For them to show up at Rosa Parks' funeral would be in the worst possible taste, and I'm glad to see that they've decided to take the high road. For once.

5. No photo-ops with caskets permitted
Come on! Get with the program! Can't show any caskets!
Scrub and Condi had their photo-op's last week.
We should remember that if Alito was on the bench during Rosa's days, Ms. Parks would go her grave unnoticed and greatly underappreciated.

7. There might be some local republicans there
I would guess that William Milliken is probably there, depending on his health. He is a good republican. Bill Lucas is also probably there, and maybe Keith Butler.

Shrub is not welcome south of 8 Mile Rd, unless he's going to the Detroit Economic Club or one of the sports complexes.
