Then you are right.

Otherwise I think you have failed to understand the significance of what Reid is after.

What part of that phrase did you want to re-invent? It also appears to have worked, for the moment. And the operative word of your post is "finally," unfortunately.

16. The word "Grandstanding" carries the connotation of
'non-substantial theatrics'.

This polls suggests that "Trying to get to the truth" is the substantive option while 'Grandstanding' is the non-substantive option.

I did in fact mean that if you meant 'Grandstanding' by it's literal interpretation {they took a stand which was indeed grand}, then I agree with you that the Democrats did both.

But that if you meant it the way the poll suggests, then I would not agree.

The poll is arranged to give a more favorable result to the Dems as two of the three choices represnt sbstantive actions where the third can be considered non-substantive.

That's pretty much all I was saying.

13. It may be both, but....
I am voting "truth" in any polls like this. Yesterday's MSM crapfest has me irate. How many media outlets led with "Sentate Hijacked!"?
Why didn't they use a snippet of Harry Reid's rousing words and put the focus on the outrageous crimes of the Bush administration and the neocons?

Better still, why not actually report WHAT HAPPENED and THEN report the reactions of both sides?

And WHO was that "reporter" in the Senate hallway who kept asking questions like "Are you doing this to take attention away from the Alito nomination or because you don't like cutting spending" I'd have asked her "What school of journalism did you attend and what media outlet do you work for?"
