I have two questions for debunking Right-Wing Talkingpoints in Iraq
1. "Why didn't Saddam let U.N. Weapons Inspectors in from 1998-2003? He must have been hiding something if that was the case."

2. "The French, Germans, and Russians, were bribed with money from the Oil-For-Food Program, into not supporting the war."

1. I can answer the 1st question.....
Saddam wanted to look strong to the other Arab countries and show them that he can play ball with the Americans and not let them push him around. With Saddam, it was all about perception and there was never very much substance.

3. As to your 2d question, bribe money if any
flowing to the French and Germans, went to private interests and did not get close to the principles behind the French/German governments not supporting the war> some combination of "It's stupid," "The Bush government is arrogant and pushy," "You want our soldiers to get killed for what?" "Why not wait for the inspections?" and "What's the big rush?"

The Russians, who knows.

5. The French don't trust us, our government.
They didn't go to war because they know our leaders are dirty. They have a indictment waiting on Cheney. He apparently did some bang up job of bribing government officials while at Haliburton. They didn't take bribes, they did and still do have financial interests in the ME. Our government has smeared France every chance it can because of the Cheney/Haliburton investigation.

7. 1. Why didn't Bush let the inspectors do their job once they got back in?
In 2003, Saddam let the inspectors in to prove he didn't have WMDs. Everywhere they looked they found nothing. Bush kept saying "the weapons are there, we have proof". The inspectors said "OK, show us then". "Nope. Sorry. 'National Security'".

The Tyrant Bush has the same insecure necessity for secrecy that the Tyrant Saddam had.

2. The Oil-For-Food scandal involved $1.8 billion in bribes from 4500 companies in 66 countries - including American corporations who donated heavily to George Bush's re-election like DaimlerChrysler, Coastal Oil & Gas (Oscar S Wyatt Jr), Bayoil (David B Chalmers Jr) and others.

Yes, French, Germans and Russian companies received and gave bribes. But, so did American, British, Turkish, Jordanian, Syrian, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese companies. NONE of the bribes have been tied to these governments or have had the slightest hint that they influenced the foreign policies of these governments. In Any Way.
