"we will impeach Bush" as a 2006 House platform plank?
Bush is looking so completely abyssmal right now. I wonder, on an overall basis, would it help House Democrats and hopefuls to run on a campaign of promising to bring up impeachment proceedings if the Democrats take the House back?

Doubtless this would get the remaining, rabid 25% from the far right to the polls to defend their man. But would it result in even more moderates and liberals coming out to make sure the Democrats win the House back?

Just kind of thinking out loud here. Is there merit to this notion, or is it a wash?

1. Change that to "Hold the Republican's accountable in 2006."
Lets impeach them all.

3. That doesn't have the drama of "IMPEACH THE BASTARD!"
Though it is of course the other half of what's necessary. Assuming (hugh!!!1!! assumption I know) that the voters' current mood holds, and drives a big enough victory to overwhelm the election fraud, the Repigs in Congress will be decimated and in tatters. Many will not be re-elected, and many will be facing ongoing criminal legal battles. They will be fairly easy pickin's at that point.

9. I like that statement . .
Sums up the whole situation, and will make a great slogan to use against them in '06.

Also: "Democrats - Bringing honesty and Integrity back into the American Government"

"Democrats - "Of the people, for the people, and by the people."

4. I read that a republican running for congress in NH
has stated that if elected he would initiate impeachment procedings. That alone should tell you its a good idea.

5. How about something like " A safe and secure future"
Clinton was highly succesful with his future campaign. Right now Americans are largely peesimistic about the future of this country-national security, social security, economic security, etc.

8. Personally, I think Dems need to bring national issues down to
local realities. The R's will be running away from Bush and the obvious widespread corruption in their party. So expecting the r's campaigns to really be on local issues. Dems need to be ready for that.

just because the pugs did it to Clinton, it doesn't mean that we have to play tit-for-tat...it's just childish.
what would the impeachment be for, specifically? with what "evidence"?

let's stick to the issues.

13. I don't think the issues are in question at all
I think the underlying case for impeachment is rock solid. I'm only wondering if it would be wise to run on such a promise. But we have Bush dead to rights on impeachment. Tens of thousands dead for no other reason than that Bush was determined to go to war, no matter what kind of lies it took to get the slaughter started.
