7. Outside of our pods the machines have lost control of the storyline
Must have been some sort of glitch or something. These seem to be just piecemealing it together and trying to bring it back around full circle. Their supposed "Genius" (the Rove character in the story) part of the story probably got handed off to some new guy who started by saying that "Rove" would lead the clean up after the big flood story and it all kinda fell apart from here.
