Joan Kroc dies at 75. Former Padres owner and wife of Ray Kroc
of McDonalds fame.

This lady married a RW tycoon and after he dies, took his billions and used it for liberal/humanitarian causes, including peace and healing centers all around the country.
Here in San Diego she has built recreation centers in impovershed neighborhoods, donated millions to charity, and built the San Diego Hospice Center, a beautiful facility, straight up right out of her pocket.

This lady was an angel and will be missed here in San Diego and world wide.

1. She founded the Institute for Peace Studies at Notre Dame
and, I believe, also funded a new building for them.

She was also the person who handed out all that money (was it 20K a person?) to people in North Dakota when they had all that flooding a number of years ago.

2. There is a similar Institute here in San Diego too.
The East San Diego rec center is awesome. Two pools, 1 indoor, basketball courts, ice rink, tennis courts, skateboard track..... She went all out on this place and the crime rate in the area has decreased since they opened the center.

3. I was thinking of her just the other day!
Every 2 years or so, I go into a McDonald's (usually to use the facilities, and I buy an apple pie or something in return ...) Just about the only thing that'll get me in there is thinking about Mrs. Krok helping all those liberal causes. Anyway, I remembered reading that press release from her, about how she started giving away all that money right after her husband passed away ...

I hope she had a happy life and will be long remembered.
