The head of the Texas Minuteman Civil Defense Corps has quit, saying he has been unable to overcome racism among members in Goliad.

National leaders say the resignation of Bill Parmley won't have any effect on the planned actions targeting illegal immigrants in Houston and other Texas cities this October.

However, they also acknowledge Parmley was a driving force in organizing that effort. snip

Parmley said he has become concerned that some of the Minuteman activists in his region have a vendetta against the Goliad County sheriff, who is Hispanic.

He asserted they also have made comments about shooting illegal immigrants or letting them die from dehydration.

"That's their mind-set, and I don't want my name and my reputation associated with a group of people who are racist like that," he said.

But I am supposed to believe some DUers when they tell me "what a good egg Lou is". Unbelievable.

"There are many Hispanic people in this community who work here, many of us are from here ... they're not going to see the difference," said Aline Soundy, who was born in El Salvador but now lives in Bellingham and has a U.S. passport. "I think they threaten our security more than they protect it."

One argument broke out early on, between a Canadian resident who supported the Minutemen's rights to carry weapons and members of the peace groups. Monteiro said the small outburst is a perfect example of what she fears. "Everywhere the Minutemen go, they've brought division to the county," the Bellingham resident said. "They brought the issue to the county."

U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Lake Stevens, WA, issued a statement against the Minuteman group's efforts.
"While I recognize the Minutemen's desire to help with (border) work, their efforts are simply not the solution," Larsen said. "Their presence will only distract from border officials' work to monitor and secure our border."

Matter of fact we had an Illinois DUer who supported these thugs until he realized they were in his neighborhood. Now he doesn't like them no more. They must have demanded to see his Green Card or something?

I live in Goliad County and campaigned for him. I know a lot of white republicans that vote for him. He is very active in the community and has somewhat bridged the hispanic/white gap in this county. That is why he keeps winning elections. We have our fair share of dumbass rednecks who can't stand the fact that a hispanic is their sheriff (I am unfortunately acquainted with a few of them).

So I was thinking (dangerous in this day and age, I know)...

Okay, we know, for sure, even though we already "knew" that these minutemen are a bunch of racists thugs who are "patrolling the border because they'd like nothing better than to have a Dirty Harry moment with an illegal immigrant, except that their victim wouldn't be "lucky."

We also know that it's pretty much impossible to shame somebody like that into letting go of their racism when they're determined to hang onto it, and instead of letting it go or changing their heart, they disguse it with claims of patriotism, honor, duty, etc.

We also know that the reason the immigrants are coming is that NAFTA, which was presented to Americans as a way to improve Mexican standard of living by providing jobs and increased wages, and keep them in their own country, was a bunch of hooey. These people are coming because they are living in desperate poverty and want better for themselves and their families. They're coming here to find jobs that pay a decent wage.

We also know that these people do in fact, find work in the U.S. but it's in jobs for employers who are violating wage laws, safety laws, immigration laws, etc.

Here's a thought--Redict the racist thugs away from independent border patrol where there's a real possibility they're gonna kill people. Take these guys, give them highly limited deputizing, but give them a fancy badge, and send them off, unarmed and under the tight direction and control of an INF agent into factories and businesses to review workers for green cards.

That way, we use them to stick it to the a-holes who are breaking the laws and taking advantage of the illegal immigrants, and who probably supported NAFTA in the first place. Use racist blue-collar thugs to stick it to racist white-collar thugs.
