Here's Sam Alito's baseball card from fantasy baseball camp --

In Capital and at the Court, Baseball Rules
By SCOTT SHANE
Published: November 5, 2005

WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 - First there was John G. Roberts Jr., talking his way to confirmation as chief justice of the United States with the insight that "judges are like umpires."

Then there was Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in the C.I.A. leak case, explaining last week's indictment of the vice president's chief of staff by asserting that the aide, I. Lewis Libby Jr., had, in baseball terms, thrown sand in the umpire's eyes.

And finally, on Monday, there was the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr., a Philadelphia Phillies fan (short for "fanatic") who told the world that his ambition as a young man had been to become baseball commissioner.

Why are so many Washington figures, including a long list of Supreme Court justices, so devoted to the game? Easy, said Carter G. Phillips, a Washington lawyer and an old softball teammate of Judge Alito: "Baseball's the perfect sport for nerds."...

***

Though he may never be baseball commissioner, Judge Alito, a federal appeals judge for 15 years, has coached his son's Little League team and in 1994 attended a Phillies "fantasy camp," returning with his own baseball card....

10. Better to lose MLB than the whole country.
What a noble sacrifice it would be.

6. Possibly, he played in high school --
"He was a standout student, a valedictorian who served as student council president in his senior year. His yearbook entry lists 10 clubs and extracurricular activities, including band, track, honor society and public speaking. Friends said he also loved baseball and dreamed of being a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies."

9. I thinks its a fine game. Don't watch except during playoffs. And when
you grow up with the 69 Mets as your team... well it's all been downhill for me. Though I did love Fernando-mania when I lived in L.A.
