"I want to appreciate those of you who wear our nation's uniform for your sacrifice." - George W Bush, 14 January 2005.

Note the wording. This "fool" had also said "the internets" when there were, in fact, two of them.

He's not a fool in that he's thinking of more than one internet exists.

He's a fool in that he can't shut his mouth when it comes to subconsciously saying the TRUTH.

The saddest part is, the bulk of America was even more foolish for not seeing the obvious with this. Even I was ignorant of the two internets th ing...

On the plus side, a coworker told me Internet2 is just as insecure as internet1, particularly because both are linked together... :dunce:

3. Internet2 is still just "the Internet"

There is only one Internet. Saying there are two is like saying there is more than one "outdoors". Internet2 calling themselves Internet2 was kinda disingenuous of them. You either build an intranet, or you add to the Internet -- using a different protocol, set of gateways, or technology doesn't make it its own internet.

5. Okay, it's semantics then. You say it's one... people in security however
might differ. I know one who does.

Though BOTH explanations are, one way or another, technically correct.

They should have kept Internet2 separate; then it would not just be secure, we wouldn't have this argument. :D  :D
