What lies beyond Thunderdome?
Just watching that movie and thinking about America as Thunderdome. Are we too caught up in the culture here to be able to break free of the faction, schisms, economical intrigues, and power structure? Will it have to be our children, armed with vestiges of memories of a long ago and far away home, and some longing for something better and more noble who will mount the assault on this corrupt citadel? We continue to fight the wars of the last two centuries in the halls of government.

What lies beyond Thunderdome?

"Pumpin they are... kachunk kachunk."

To go further with your analogy, does that makes Bush this guy:

and Cheney the guy on his back?

4. I don't know. The one thing I am certain of is that
we don't need another hero and we don't need to know the way home. It just occurred to me as I was watching this movie that we are trapped in Thunderdome now and need to get beyond it.

6. Thunderdome as a fascist tableau
As long as we don't need Mel to save us. :) His Opus Dei pro-torture movie was not the catholic dogma I was raised on.

I was a huge fan of these movies when they came out, I just love all things post-apocalyptic. I'm morbid that way. :)

And what the heck was the next lyric ?

"All we are is blahdey blahh blahh .. thunder dome."

7. "All we want is life beyond thunderdome."
It just seems appropriate somehow.

TINA TURNER - We Don't Need Another Hero Lyrics
OUT OF THE RUINS
OUT FROM THE WRECKAGE
CAN`T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THIS TIME
WE ARE THE CHILDREN
THE LAST GENERATION
WE ARE THE ONES THEY LEFT BEHIND
AND I WONDER WHEN WE ARE EVER GONNA CHANGE
LIVING UNDER THE FEAR, TILL NOTHING ELSE REMAINS

WE DON`T NEED ANOTHER HERO
WE DON`T NEED TO KNOW THE WAY HOME
ALL WE WANT IS LIFE BEYOND
THUNDERDOME

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING
WE CAN RELY ON
THERE`S GOTTA BE SOMETHING BETTER OUT THERE
LOVE AND COMPASSION
THEIR DAY IS COMING
ALL ELSE ARE CASTLES BUILT IN THE AIR
AND I WONDER WHEN WE ARE EVER GONNA CHANGE
LIVING UNDER THE FEAR TILL NOTHING ELSE REMAINS

ALL THE CHILDREN SAY
WE DON`T NEED ANOTHER HERO
WE DON`T NEED TO KNOW THE WAY HOME
ALL WE WANT IS LIFE BEYOND
THUNDERDOME

SO WHAT DO WE DO WITH OUR LIFES
WE LEAVE ONLY A MARK
WILL OUR STORY SHINE LIKE A LIGHT
OR END IN THE DARK
GIVE IT ALL OR NOTHING

WE DON`T NEED ANOTHER HERO
WE DON`T NEED TO KNOW THE WAY HOME
ALL WE WANT IS LIFE BEYOND
THUNDERDOME
