NYT: Far Away From Home, No Rest for a Weary President
By ELISABETH BUMILLER

(snip)

Not least, the always-on-time, early-rising Mr. Bush found himself so much at the mercy of Argentina's late, leisurely scheduling that on Friday he sat down to a dinner with Western Hemisphere leaders at 10:15 p.m., already past his bedtime, and did not get back to his hotel room until nearly 12:40 a.m.

The next day, an administration official said Mr. Bush would skip a two-hour lunch with the leaders because of "time served" at dinner the night before. But the president's planned escape was soon moot because the contentious summit talks ran so late, three hours over schedule at that point, that Argentina canceled the lunch.

So by 3:30 p.m., evidently on an empty stomach, Mr. Bush said he was sticking to his itinerary - a 4:05 p.m. Air Force One departure from Argentina to go to Brazil - and he did, leaving an assistant secretary of state behind to sweat out the trade talks. They ended hours later in failure.

"I didn't get any readout of the president's mood," a senior administration official told reporters when asked about Mr. Bush's state of mind. "But I can't imagine that he's mad."

Well, he certainly did not look happy a lot of the time. Polls indicate that Mr. Bush is the most unpopular American president ever in Latin America, but what has been most striking about watching him on his trip to Argentina, Brazil and Panama, which ends Monday night, is how removed he sometimes seemed from the cacophony around him.

1. Oh poor poor Chimpy.
Mr. Bush, looking relaxed in shirtsleeves, said he was "looking forward to good old-fashioned Brazilian barbecue." Then he added, "It will remind me of home."

Him a widdle homesick.

All he can think of is his own creature comfort. What a pansy. What a candy-ass. What a supreme schmuck.

3. Poor little brat...
he wants the power and perks that come with being president, but none of the work, or accepting responsibility. What a spoiled, pathetic, arrogant little man he is. He is not only the most unpopular American president ever in Latin America, he's also the most unpopular American president in the United States.

The man ruins everything he touches, and causes this country nothing but shame and hatred. I want him to be tried and convicted in the Hague for his many war crimes. How disgusting when a newspaper article is mostly concerned with the president's pouting and tantrums.

4. You left out some of my favorite parts!
In short, the president of the United States is not in charge when he is one among many big-winded leaders and another nation's guest.

When reporters told Stephen J. Hadley, the national security adviser, that they had not heard Mr. Bush say much about his proposed trade deal, Mr. Hadley replied, to some laughter, "You didn't hear President Bush much talk about anything."

5. He's all alone.
"On Friday in Mar del Plata, an Atlantic City-like vacation spot of high-rises, brown sand beaches and a big casino, Mr. Bush could be seen walking alone, while other leaders moved in noisy knots..."

Nobody wants to talk to him. He has no one to blame but himself.

6. Those late-night events were probably planned just to rile the Little King
The other guys must have privately laughed themselves silly, knowing how the little wimp likes to be in bed at 9:00 with his own little pillow.

10. Weary????
Why should he be weary? Because his sorry ass hasn't had a vacation since hurricane Katrina? How long ago was that...2 months? And what is it with this 10PM bedtime shit? I think if you want to be POTUS you need to figure you will lose some sleep once in a while.

13. Can we PLEASE fire this clown--management doesn't get comp time.
The Leader of the Free World skips out on a working lunch and an opportunity to network face to face with other world leaders because he was up late the night before--er working.

It's pretty clear that he doesn't want this job anymore--he should be relieved of it to save him and us a great deal of pain.

17. Had to skip lunch? Now perhap he knows how all those poor U.S. school kids
feel...each day without lunch vouchers any more. One gets grumpy and weak when one's hungry, eh Shrub? Yet LOTS of your we-the-people go hungry daily, and nightly too. Poor little Shrub...had to fly 'home' quick...at WHAT rate to starving taxpayers?

14. That's pathetic. How many Americans, especially those with children
sometimes have to stay up well into the morning, and then still get up before Bush does and do more work in the first half of the day than he does in a week?

19. and those with families, plus 2nd or 3rd jobs to make ends meet ...
And often they skip one or more meals themselves, just so the kids will have something to eat, as they wait for payday to come around.

I don't think Bush knows the meaning of "weary".

I doubt he'll get much sympathy from the folks working 3 jobs just to pay the rent and feed their kids.

Are they saying that Bush lacks the necessary qualifications?

That he can't cut it?

I've known that for five years.
