On abortion, are you pro-life? Or pro-choice?

........06/13/05 08/15/05
Pro-life 52% .....48%
Pro-choice 41% ...47%
Not Sure 6% ......5%
Total 100% .......100%

1. Hmmmm. Did Roberts' nomination wake some lazy people up?
And I'm not talking about the respondants to that poll.

I've actually noticed a HUGE change in the poll responses on a lot of the so-called "hot-button" (wedge) issues since this summer, with the shift being distinctly to the left (stem cell funding, preservation of abortion rights, gay marriage and civil unions).

2. I'd like to see more polls other than just two from them
Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 12:48 AM by ISUGRADIA
both results are within the margain of error so there is no way of being sure there has been a swing in opinion

5. If you are under 60
Roe has been the law of the land. It has been so eroded in recent years BUT most people believe that IF they needed it they could drive to a /county/state that offered it......It is now hitting them right between the eyes..and they don't like it

8. Yes, remember the thalidomide babies?
Rich women went to Europe for abortions. The middle class and the poor had no choice.

4. I absolutely HATE polls that deal in absolutes.
The numbers would be different if they'd have an option for (something most middle Americans feel) "Do you believe you could probably not choose an abortion for yourself, but believe it's not your responsibility to make that choice for someone else?"

The Poll I'd love to see:
Which is a more important issue to you?

1)Abortion
2)Single Payer National Healthcare

6. The latest MSNBC poll had 73% who upholds Roe v Wade
Democrats are pro life but reserve the right to protect women and their choice. The dems want to increase education in birth control, abstinence, and care of infants and their mothers. That is the answer to reducing abortions.

The right wing wackos want to do away with choice and force women to deliver the child regardless of circumstances. Just like the Taliban.
