1. We'll never know.
But it's an interesting thought. Compare the status of the American Indians to the Bog Irish and there wasn't much difference at the time. Manifest Destiny indeed. Back in school as little kids we didn't have a clue as to the possibilities that existed.

2. Bog Irish?
I had to google that one. Was not much there. Was Ned Kelly Bog Irish? I go to the library once a week, so i have added it to my research. thank you.

4. From the time of Elizabeth to the time of the famine,
there was a tribal society in at least parts of Ireland that was gradually destroyed. Just as in this country, the original inhabitants were resettled to poorer lands or pushed westwards. The native language and customs were denigrated and discouraged. Many of the techniques used against the American Indians were first used in Ireland. Somewhere along the line, some families that were planted in Ireland to displace the native Irish moved to these shores and became involved in displacing native Americans (Andrew Jackson, anyone?) That's all water long gone over the dam, but back in school we had no inkling of what kind of mind set people had back in those days.
