Paris is burning! Again. History repeats....
World-wide, the "haves" (most of whom have "gotten" at the expense of the "have-nots.) had better learn that mistreatment of the poor and non-whites is not going to lead to a life of peace and enjoyment. It never has and it never will. We in America may scoff at what is happening in Paris but the opening up of the "war on terra" has enabled some of the most tyrannical behaviors of so-called "leaders of democracy" in the name of "security" and "anti-terrorism" that the people affected will not long tolerate this mistreatment and no one will be living safe and secure within their own borders. Will people ever learn the message of "love?"

1. I don't think drug gangs trying to maintain their turf were involved last
time Paris burned.

12. Towards the end of World War II, Hitler asked the question
"Is Paris burning?", to which the answer came back as "No."

I know that during the 1960s, there were mass riots due to France's involvement in Algeria. I'm not sure if that reached Paris.

The last time Paris burnt, could very well have been during the French Revolution.

18. It was a rhethorical question.
Last time was May 68. The movement was comparable in the sense it was a youth movement, as this one is. But these are not mass protests. They are very localized in poor places.

2. But ... But ... It's Their Fault They Are Poor.
I'm not poor because I will get rich if I follow the rich. It can't happen here. Them against us.

USA is in real trouble. 'We the people' are easily fooled but when the troubles come, the police will not be able to contain it.

3. The way things are going
It won't be long until it starts up in this country. We already saw an example of it in Toledo a few weeks ago.

14. Yes...anger and resentment that the police might actually
start policing.

If its some social movement, why are the large majority of the community not rioting, but the drug gangs are???

21. I'm not saying I support their actions
But I don't think this is as spontaneous as you think it is.

Why were the drug gangs allowed to flourish in the first place? You're always going to have your criminals, but do some of these youths feel that is the only way they can succeed in life?

15. It seems that ongoing police abuse
had a lot to do with the form this 'rebellion' has taken.
Aside from the dire economic conditions of this segment of the population, the youths reportedly have been targeted by police for a long time. It is a terrible situation.

7. the anger and frustration is bubbling up in France, Latin America-Berlin.
It could be that this slow growing uprising is just the beginning. People can only take so much.

8. The surprising issue is why this country stays so calm
They have all the same problem France has, probably only worst because of the absence of a safety net.

10. our public school system
Seriously.

It does one thing rather well, much better than any European system--it assimilates.

19. I have to disagree - the school system in France assimilates as
well as here. If anything, it is part of the problem: not recognizing the differences enough.

From what I have seen during the LA reports, the situation is fairly comparable. Hence my question.

16. Mandrake!
Ripper: Have you ever seen a Commie drink a glass of water?
Mandrake: Well, I can't say I have.
Ripper: Vodka, that's what they drink, isn't it? Never water?
Mandrake: Well, I-I believe that's what they drink, Jack, yes.
Ripper: On no account will a Commie ever drink water, and not without good reason.
Mandrake: Oh, eh, yes. I, uhm, can't quite see what you're getting at, Jack.
Ripper: Water, that's what I'm getting at, water. Mandrake, water is the source of all life. Seven-tenths of this earth's surface is water. Why, do you realize that seventy percent of you is water?
Mandrake: Uh, uh, Good Lord!
Ripper: And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids.
Mandrake: Yes. (he begins to chuckle nervously)
Ripper: Are you beginning to understand?
Mandrake: Yes. (more laughter)
Ripper: Mandrake. Mandrake, have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure-grain alcohol?
Mandrake: Well, it did occur to me, Jack, yes.
Ripper: Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation. Fluoridation of water?
Mandrake: Uh? Yes, I-I have heard of that, Jack, yes. Yes.
Ripper: Well, do you know what it is?
Mandrake: No, no I don't know what it is, no.
Ripper: Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face?

22. Love is tricky
It really depends on what you learn to love. Teach people to love other people for who they are and world peace may be possible. Teach people to love something about another person that really isn't them and you create a lever to crush them with.

This is the problem of the soul. The idea of a soul enables some beliefs to seperate the identity of a person from who they really are. They can believe themself to be preaching the tenants of love but in truth they can be tearing at the very foundation of a person's identity. Love the sinner hate the sin. But often times the person is the sin you are learning to hate. The noncoporeal soul in the thing you are learning to love. Guess which one is being hurt by words and actions.
