Ready for MSNBC's Connie POVICH / Maury CHUNG Show? (Lizz WINSTEAD)
Maury is a Shrub golfing pal. He's called "Po" or "MoPo"...(pregnant pause)

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/07/business/07msnbc.html

.... The as-yet-untitled, half-hour program - a review of the week's news that will fuse elements of "Meet the Press," the defunct "Crossfire" and "The Daily Show" - will appear on Saturday mornings and be rerun on Sundays. The executive producer is Lizz Winstead, a co-creator of "The Daily Show" who, until earlier this year, was the host of her own program on Air America, the talk radio network.

MSNBC is expected to formally announce the pairing today, but the principals - including Rick Kaplan, president of MSNBC - discussed the program in interviews late last week. The network, long a distant third to Fox News and CNN but improving a bit in some periods, is willing to consider moving the show to a more prominent slot if it finds its footing, Mr. Kaplan said. It will have its debut at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006. ....

Still, in commenting on the news from Washington, Mr. Povich has one potential conflict: he is an acquaintance of President Bush, having known him as a golfing buddy before he was governor of Texas. The president still occasionally sees Mr. Povich, whom he calls "Po" and sometimes "MoPo." Mr. Povich says he gave $2,000 to the president's re-election campaign. And yet, he says, he has some disagreements with the administration that could find their way on to the new program. ....

1. I Like Lizzy
this ought to be interesting. She's smart and quick - MoPo is used to talking to dysfunctional families, including to the Bush's.

2. The other day I was watching Povich's show
There are really no words to descibe how utterly crude and void of any shred of intelligence or human dignity this waste of time and space is.

It occured to me that I hadn't heard anything about Connie Chung in a long time and concluded she must be hiding in shame somewhere

4. Who's elderly mother

will Connie use her journalistic skills to trick into saying something on this show? I didn't care that it was Newt's mother, it could have been any politician's mother who does not give many interviews and does not speak much publicly or with the press. The way she behaved after here journalistic "feat" was sick, she acted as if her getting that woman to say something was worthy of an emmy.

5. But Newt's Mudder Said What She Really Thought
What's wrong with getting that out in the open?

7. If what she thought had any bearing on anyone or anything

I guess it would have been great to get it into the open. But it had no more bearing on the world then what my mother thought of Newt or Hillary.

6. Puhleese....
It was Newt's mother who stuck her foot in her mouth. That wasn't the questioner's fault.

8. She said she would rather not say something

And Connie told her to "just whisper it to me," and then sat up smiling after her cleaver ruse was successful.

9. The Condit interview
was the last gasp for Chung. She's never apologized for it, either.

10. Povich is a sleaze
Maybe he should hook Bush up to a lie detector and ask him about his transgressions.

By the way, "South Park" did a good sendup on Maury's exploitative show.
