An Enemy of The State
According to a printout from a computer controlled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice, I am an enemy of the state.

The printout, shown to me recently by a friend who works for Justice, identifies me by a long, multi-digit number, lists my date of birth, place of birth, social security number and contains more than 100 pages documenting what the Bureau and the Bush Administration consider to be my threats to the security of the United States of America.

It lists where I sent to school, the name and address of the first wife that I had been told was dead but who is alive and well and living in Montana, background information on my current wife and details on my service to my country that I haven’t even revealed to my wife or my family.

Although the file finds no criminal activity by me or members of my immediate family, it remains open because I am a “person of interest” who has “written and promoted opinions that are contrary to the government of the United States of America.”

2. I don't think so
Capital Hill Blue has been around for a while, if memory serves.

On the other hand, if you don't read my website, the Riticulons have promised to invade and bring us some democracy.

3. Just because it's been around for a while doesn't mean it has any cred.
Capitol Hill Blue makes Drudge look like its Pulitzer material. But CHB often says the things DUers want to hear.

4. This would be chilling if almost anybody but CapitolHillBlue published it.

As it is, I don't buy it. My experience with CHB stories is they're wrong a heckuva lot more than they are right.

5. what so many fail to understand... we are all enemies of the state now
unless we're loyalist drones.

At any given moment, you've got a few hundred different government agencies, whicy you pay for, who would like nothing better than to destroy your life and throw you in a box. Don't think so? Look at the legal code these days. There are any one of a million different ways you can piss one of these agencies off, all ways of which wind you up in a cell in Leavenworth or Gitmo.

And the fact that this is all very, very unconstitutional doesn't really seem to bother anyone. They're too busy being freaked out by the shadows on the wall. :-(

6. I think he may have felt hungry later that day.
It sounds like he had an imaginary lunch.

Must have read the article about National Security Letters in The WasPost over the weekend.

Capitol Hill Blue has been publishing some, uh, imaginative, (anonymous source) articles about Dubya's madness and temper tantrums at the White House. Maybe that's why he's having lunch with Deep Throat?

8. Fiction? Non-fiction? Can't say.
But is he correct about National Security Letters? About Executive Order 13388?

Government keeping tabs on citizens in nothing new, and with the Patriot Act overriding all reforms since the bad old Nixon days, is this really unlikely?

9. What's changed is that they're retaining all that data now. They used
to delete the stuff after a period of time unless they had cause to obtain a FISA or Title III warrant. Now, according to the Post, they're archiving all of it.

Strange. This flatly contradicts what the Pentagon claims it did with the 2.5 terabytes of data contained in the Able Danger Project computers. They say those files were destroyed because they contained data about U.S. citizens. Now we learn, that doesn't matter any more. Which is correct?
