income taxes and a story on how the govt can squash you and ignore the law
http://www.strike-the-root.com/52/davies/davies6.html

some snippets from this must read article on how the government can make its own rules....

judge Dawson ruled that Schiff was not allowed to refer to the law during his defense--that he alone would instruct the jury on what the law says. Schiff tried to refer to the law anyway, and was sentenced to one day in prison each time

The defense was pro-se.....was assisted by a court-appointed attorney; those attorneys heard that ruling with dropped jaws. Each said that in all his experience he had never seen or heard the like.

----

Dawson prohibited defense witnesses from testifying to anything but the good character of Mr Schiff, thereby blatantly violating his right, "guaranteed" by Amendment 6, to obtain "witnesses in his favor." This, likewise, totally astonished the assisting attorneys.

1. I Was Thinking of Using Some 401k Money

for nontraditional investments like real estate or a small business. There's a group that claims to have a legal way of doing this. They even have a letter from the IRS stating that it appears to be a legitimate way of treating IRA money.

However, in talking with a retirement counseler, he mentioned that the IRS is not bound by any such letters they write. They can audit your return at any point, can claim the investment was illegal, and charge back taxes and penalties for a period of years. And have repeatedly done this in the past. Now I'm afraid to do it.

I realize the retirement counseler had an axe to grind. But it really offends me that the IRS can and does go back on their own in-house positions to burn the taxpayer.

4. Mr. Schiff was "squashed" for good reason.
He is a convicted tax cheat and con artist. At least, Republicans pay some taxes. Why do you think he's so great?

6. Is Schiff Associated with Benetrends?
I didn't see his name and am not familiar with him. The only Schiff I saw on an internet search was a Robert Schiff, identified as an "investment consultant", who acutally cautioned about the possibility of losing money through the plan.

Can you give me some more background or a link? What is the OP?

7. This article is, at minimum, suspect.

I'm not going to debate the merits of Schiff's "system" or method or whatever, but the following needs to be pointed out:

Here's a quote from the article: "The second was that jurors were selected only from a list of registered voters; that is, a set of people who had already affirmed their belief in a system of governance involving the use of initiated force against their neighbors. Such tampering is always done in every government court, and brings at once a heavy and obvious bias against any defendant with an opposing belief."

Erm, is anyone just a TAD uncomfortable with that as a rationale for why this trial was bogus? It's completely circular: if you participiate in the American system of government, you are incapable of participating in a fair jury trial. OK, so who do we get to act as the jury? Why, those people who aren't registered! But that means either:

1. Through their participation, they would give tacit approval to the American system of governance, making them incapable of participating in the very jury on which they sat.
OR
2. If registered voters are incapable of making fiar decisions, thus so are unregistered voters. Bias swings both ways: if those who participate in the system are biased toward it, those who don't are biased against it.

This is Libertarian/Anarchist BULLSHIT of the first order.

Personally, I'm glad to pay my fucking taxes. If you want to avoid them, fine - but stay off MY fucking roads, make sure not to use MY fucking parks and keep your Goddamed mail out of MY post office.

Mostly
