What do these folks have in common? (Besides being good Democrats.)
Al Gore
Barbara Boxer
Dennis Kucinich
Hillary Clinton
John Conyers
John Edwards
John Kerry
Mark Warner
Russ Feingold
Wesley Clark

Let's see. They all ran for president in '04. No, not all of them. They are all going to run for president in '08? Hmmmm. I don't know about that one, my crystal ball is in the shop. (Although if ANY ONE of them is the Democratic candidate in '08 I will PROUDLY vote for them.) Gee, I don't know IB, what do all of these folks have in common.

Here's the answer. They all have groups dedicated to them on Democratic Underground. With very few exceptions however these groups are badly underutilized. I will admit to being a participating member of the John Kerry group. I read there regularly and post when I can. Hanging out in that group I learn something new about either John Kerry, politics in general, life in general or all of the above every day.

There are times though when I wish I could learn more about what's going on with other Democrats. (Especially potential '08 candidates.) What are their stances on the issues, have there been any news articles printed about them that might help me learn more about them, has anyone had a sighting of their candidate that was cool? Sure I could wade though a brazilon sites on the internets, but like a lot of people here I prefer one-stop political news shopping. There is only so much time in a day. Likewise, I could sift through post after post in GD/GD-P but again, there are only so many hours in a day AND I am really opposed to Democratic cannibalism so I'd really rather not.

Basically, I would like to see more of these groups become more active so I (and others) could see WHY folks are so passionate about the Democrats they love. (Because passion is a beautiful thing.) I want to know that there is a place that I can go to find about a Democrat who may not be in office at the moment, but who is out there doing fantastic work on behalf of us all. I want to keep up with what folks who ARE in office are doing because some of them don't get as much media attention as others. Enlighten me people!

This of course doesn't mean that folks shouldn't post about their favorite in GD/GD-P, but don't forget to use what the DU gods have blessed us with. There's a place for everyone (and if not, I'm sure you could arrange for there to be.)

That's all.
