Why are the Republicans so eager to investigate the new CIA leak?
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 07:11 PM by bluestateguy
It makes me nervous that they are so eager to investigate it, whereas they were not in the Plame case. Are they setting up to blame this on either a Democratic senator (who is up in 2006) or a Democratic staffer?

A fresh round of news coverage here could drown out the Plame story.

I heard what Trent Lott said this afternoon and I'll take it under advisement, but I'm still uneasy.

1. Lame attempt to change the focus while punishing the leaker
Rethuglicans are horrified that someone put their "torture chambers" in jeopardy. This is the best they can come up with these days.

3. The only reason I can think of is
that they are hearing from their voters back home. Could that possibly be? If so, how excellent! The people have finally awakened.

Can't think of any other reason these f*ckers would do it, because I can't see any Dem being involved in the Plame thing. It was a 'puke thing all along.

from the phase 2 and start another fork in the road. It's all they got left. The wagon is already running on the axles.

7. Because it gives them an opportunity to take the lesser
of two evils. Excuse me while I don my tinfoil hat -

They purposefully leaked this crap for the following reasons:

1) The leaker will be hailed as a whistleblower, the shining example of republican moral values.
2) The CIA will be discredited as a whole...
A) And by extension Plame
B) The CIA will more easily fall to the smear campaign that they will use to turn the blame of Plamegate away, and to blame the faulty intelligence used to justify the Iraq war on. There will then be "reforms" which will show the people that the Repukes are looking out for our interests, and are "tough on corruption".

Further it will allow them to place the blame on an institution, instead of an individual who could talk. Well they couldn't exaclty indict secret operatives!!! It would be treasonous to expose agents like that! ANd the repukes could never do that. It's the classic "Hide behind the corporate logo" tactic :puke: Coupled with the "Quick look over here"...

Now the liberal folks out there will at first slander the disgusting neocon fascist nazi underhanded pigs for the torture thing, and the coverup... but they'll turn it around by pointing to the shining new Neo-Con pres/majority leader, and what a swell guy he is for standing up to the evil CIA/Pentagon.

The betting starts at 1 dollar. Place your bets, do it while it's hot folks!

8. Why would they do this?
These 2 guys are both under investigation. Frist for insider stock trading, and Hastert for connections to Abramof. They are under pressure to appear 'on top of it'.
Unfortunate for them that it appears to be a Republican who was the leaker.
Lott has axes to grind as well.

9. That was only until Trent Lott let it be known that it wasmost likely...
a republican leaker.
At first they thought it was either Dem or CIA.

Enthusiasm had waned to the point that frist was probably thinking about not signing the letter requesting the investigation, until realizing that he had backed himself into a corner.

10. They will offer immunity for testimony
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 08:42 PM by Jose Diablo
Thus cover Cheney/Bu$h and their own backside's without having Bu$h have to issue pardons. It's the political thing to do.

You see, by acting indignant, they can't be guilty themselves. Thats how this will spin in the media.
