3. You can't vote against traditional marriage...
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 08:37 PM by politicaholic
what are you talking about?

If you voted FOR gay rights then you voted FOR something, not against anything.

Edit: I just figured it out, you're talking about the Texas traditional family initiative. Disregard. Sorry, good for you.

worded it that you vote for traditional marriage or you vote against traditional marriage. for the next i dont know how long i will be letting everyone know, my state made me vote AGAINST traditional marriage because i dont want discrimination in our state constitution. this should rattle someones cage. anyones cage.

it is an outrage

9. Manipulation
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 08:40 PM by FreedomAngel82
As I've said before these people can't do anything without lying, stealing, cheating and manipulating such as that. It is an outrage. And what is traditional to one person isn't for someone else. This country is made up of all sorts of traditions. Some Christians huh? I don't recall Jesus lying, cheating, stealing, manipulating etc.

10. The wording, or part of it here:

Prohibit gay marriage or civil unions. This is the most outrageous proposition on the ballot, the most direct assault on human rights and privacy rights, and the most blatant attempt to write bigotry into the Texas Constitution since the Civil War. We need every one of you to get out on election day and vote to prevent the state of Texas from joining this march in the modern History of Infamy.
Proposition 3: No.

11. Couldn't this be
against the first amendment since their purpose is religious reasons for not having something?

4. I would do the same
if and when my state ever did this. 57 year old woman, mother of 2, and married 31 years. In those 3 decades the one thing I have learned is that NOBODY can define what a marriage is except the two people involved in it. Different strokes for different folks; straight or gay.

7. I voted the same way as you, but I wouldn't have expressed it the
same way.

I would say I voted against discriminating against people who love one another. I have also been married about the same amount of time to the same man, first marriage, two kids, SAHM, mid forties.

against tradition marriage. now of course explaining to boys i told them it was about keeping discrimination of one group out of our state constitution. but all these repugs., i want them to know i voted against traditional marriage, not cause i am not tradition, not cause i am opposed to tradition marriage, but cause they made me have to vote against it

and i have two kids too. both boys. 8 and 10

8. Pat yourself on the back
Do you really think your vote will affect your marriage?

I'm sensing sarcasm here - but I thought I would double check.

13. loll lol lol nah. lol. like i give a fuck. no, it is the outrageous
statement for me that today, in this america, i voted against traditional marriage because of religion wanting law to be the way we all live. also,...... the right has declared dems are not christian. are they going to pass a law where we are not allowed to be dem either. just the extent of where we are going in this nation.

14. I also voted "no", but it wasn't against traditional marriage.
I agree, the way this was worded sucked, but I'm for freedom to love who you want. I've been married to my husband for 23 years, and I don't feel this affects my traditional marriage at all. Take heart!

16. Hey, just because something is traditional doesn't make it right...
...but I agree with your sentiment. The problem with the way the anti-gay people phrase things makes it seem that you can only support opposite-sex marriage or same-sex marriage, not both. Good thing some of us have big enough minds to grasp both concepts simultaneously!
