AP projecting Kaine winner in VA
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 09:19 PM by Skinner
Democrat Kaine Wins Va. Governor Race

Democratic Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine won the Virginia governor's race Tuesday, soundly defeating Republican Jerry Kilgore in a contest for a GOP-leaning state that was closely watched by political analysts for signs of the public's mood ahead of next year's midterm elections.

I've seen the pukes snatch victory from the jaws of Diebold before, I refuse to believe anything until 100% of the precincts report and Kilgore concedes and blows his brains out. THEN, I'll believe! ;)

Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 09:16 PM by dsewell
NBC-29 in Charlottesville just had a live report from Kilgore HQ in Richmond, and the reporter noted that "things got real quiet a moment ago when the AP news flashed on the screen, and now there are people forming prayer circles. I think we can imagine why."

So, a moment of respectful silence, please.

Thanks. And now.... BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!

36. That reminds me of the scene in "Dr.Strangelove"
when everyone in the War Room thought that the nuclear crisis was over. George C.Scott's character leads the room in prayer: "Lord, we have seen the Angel of Death, and emerged triumphant..." Then the news comes in that there's still one American jet ready to launch a bomb.

I'll wait until all the precicts are counted before feeling safe with a Kaine victory.

Kilgore had been catching up in the polls (I believe one recent single-day poll had him even with Kaine). Then Dumbya (without a clue as to how unpopular he is) came to Virginia to help Kilgore out. That cinched it for Kaine.

Bush said something like, he likes Kilgore because he grew up on a farm and doesn't have fancy airs.

You know, because Bush grew up in CONNECTICUT as the son of rich parents, so I trust him on that. :eyes:

85. Fairfax county results.

We had some machine malfunctions at my precinct which delayed our reporting, but Kaine won it by a good margin. This precinct was split almost even in the presidential race last year. Turn out was heavy. I think the negative Kilgore ads had an effect. They made people mad enough to turn out against him.

I hope the votes get counted for Creigh Deeds. The race is still too close to call.

Next year, we all turn out against George Allen. It is time for that bigot to go.

86. Help me understand...who is running the nasty campaign?
---snip---

Both gubernational races were exceptionally nasty.

A Forrester ad quoted Corzine's ex-wife as saying, "Jon did let his family down, and he'll probably let New Jersey down, too." A Corzine ad featured a paralyzed teenager complaining about Forrester's stance against stem cell research.

A Kilgore ad alleged that Kaine's opposition to the death penalty meant he would not have executed Adolf Hitler. Kaine cites his Roman Catholic beliefs for his opposition to capital punishment, but insisted he would carry out death sentences because they are the law.

---snip---

Lets see, accusing a man of letting down his family (personal attack) vs. Using a paralyzed individual to talk about the challenger's stance on stem-cell research (attack on policy/action, not person).

Oh, and accusing someone of not executing Hitler (just plain fuzzy logic as well as a veiled personal attack) vs. talking about how one would carry out the state's laws, despite personal, religious beliefs (actually states what he WOULD do).

I'd say the Republicans lose in the personal attacks department, not the Dems. But don't tell the media that. They are real busy spinning this like the Pre$$titutes they are. :puke:

By the way, Virginia? You rock! Nice job today!

88. Yay for Virginia!
I'm so happy that we retained the governor's seat in Virginia. Hopefully we can turn Virginia blue in 2008! Congrats to all the Virginians!
