A note on DU... here we are all sharing the joy and sorrow
of elections... like a family

We all celebrated teh wins and now we sweat the last of the elections. This is not soething our forefathers ever experienced. We now even share it with foreigners, who are curious how our crazy system sometimes works, or does not.

To all of you, my friends and comrades, let me raise my cup to you.

1. and you too, my friend. I can tell you, California is about to kick my
behind. All are slowly flipping. 73 and 75 are left to go no.

2. Hear hear
Congrats to all of you who had wins. I know how that feels to win. :) The person I voted for mayor won last April and it felt great!

6. 75 is the biggie-- if Arnold wins that...
...the repigs will silence the voices of the most powerful lobbies for labor in California. That will have an enormous downstream effect that will drive state politics steadily rightward. I am sick to think that working people in California are cooperating in the destruction of their most powerful advocates.

9. Mike they are not
all of the unions fought hard against it, and the voting guides were very specific, as in NO

12. I know-- my own union spent millions to fight it...
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 12:53 AM by mike_c
...but I'm sure that most of those "yes" votes were cast by working people who don't understand what those unions-- the heart and soul of the labor movement-- have done for all working people in California. That's why Arnold and his corporate cronies have worked so hard to silence the labor lobbies-- they're effective on behalf of working people. All the corporations and the "investment class" want are wage slaves. Human dignity means nothing to them if it's someone else's dignity. I feel like crying, dammit.

14. Da läuft so manches Fäßchen aus:
Eins, zwei, g'suffa ...
Da hat so mancher brave Mann:
Eins, zwei, g'suffa ...
Gezeigt was er so vertragen kann
Schon früh am Morgen fing er an
Und spät am Abend kam er heraus
So schön ist's im Hofbräuhaus.

20. Here here, my friends...
Tonight was a good night. At this very moment, somewhere in Virginia and New Jersey- a Republican is crying, and screaming about how they're going to move. And I smile :)
