96. L.A. riddle: These numbers don't make sense.
The county status page (http://vote2005.ss.ca.gov/Returns/status.htm) says 426068 ballots were cast in L.A. county, with only 11% turnout (way below anywhere else in the state). It also says 8.4% of L.A. precincts are reporting. But the vote totals page for L.A. for the ballot measures (http://vote2005.ss.ca.gov/Returns/prop/19.htm) shows 194000+ yes on 75, 212000+ no on 75.

So 406K votes are counted out of 426K ballots cast, but only 8.4% precincts are reporting. Either something is out of whack or they have some big-ass precincts already reporting and a whole bunch of tiny precincts left to report.

This took long enough to write that, in looking at updates, I may see the answer now. That column for "Ballots cast" may mean "votes reported." I sure hope so.

37. Police to intervene in Los Angeles

Just got an email:

Phew! The Watch Commander from the Norwalk Sheriff's department just acknowledged our plea for intervention on behalf of Election Code 15204. Moments ago I got a call informing me that the Conny McCormack was denying the public access, including Bev Harris is there, to view the Central Tabulation for Los Angeles.

Well, tomorrow we'll know what the outcome is after the officers arrive tonight.

All the gold in California
Is in a bank in the middle of Beverly Hills in somebody else’s name
So if you’re dreaming about California
It don’t matter at all where you played before, California’s a brand new game

Trying to be a hero, winding up a zero
Can scar a man forever, right down to your soul
Living on the spot light, can kill a man out right

Cause everything that glitters is not gold

And all the gold in California
Is in a bank in the middle of Beverly Hills in somebody else’s name
So if you’re dreaming about California
It don’t matter at all where you played before, California’s a brand new game

And all the gold in California
Is in a bank in the middle of Beverly Hills in somebody else’s name
So if you’re dreaming about California
It don’t matter at all where you played before, California’s a brand new game

ahhhhhhhhhhh Andy ..i know you are looking down at this and you are smiling..and i would bet your hands were into this!!

your loving friend who misses you dearly...
