BREAKING: White House wants to fight us!
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Top White House officials say they're developing a "campaign-style" strategy in response to increasing Democratic allegations that the Bush administration twisted intelligence to make its case for war.

White House aides, who agreed to speak to CNN only on the condition of anonymity, said they hoped to increase what they called their "hit back" in coming days.

28. Hmm, I see. All they know how to do is conduct campaigns
It was said that the entire policy arm of the administration was subverted for the political arm. So now, whenever Bush is in trouble, that's all he knows how to do. Campaign for social security. I keep hearing that speeches he's given are much like campaign speeches lately.

And now to fight back against the twisting of intelligence, they decide to conduct another campaign. Yeah, that'll help.

So I wonder how the "hit back" is gonna work out for them when truth is on our side. And the guy who counts, Fitzgerald, isn't even a Democrat. How are they going to "hit back" when more indictments come down, or better yet, convictions.

When even their own party members are leaking against them.

Hmmm?

98. A very wise shrink once told me
that truly intelligent people - the cream of the cerebral crop - almost cannot do evil (assuming there is no underlying mental illness or substance abuse, etc.) Their superior brains see all the way to the end of an action to the far-reaching consequences.

Only mediocre minds think, "Well, she left that watch there. If she were smart like I am she wouldn't have done such a careless thing. She deserves for me to steal it. It feels good to get something for nothing."

The intelligent person says, "She must have a lot on her mind. I'll go find her right now and see that she gets her watch back safely. It looks like a nice watch, maybe a gift from someone special. It will feel good to know it was returned to her."

Mediocre minds cannot think beyond the self.

Superior minds ponder, "What is best for everyone with whom I share the planet?"

The longer I live, the more I think the shrink is correct. :)

44. This goes back to the Daschle comment
Before you're elected it's campaigns and politics
After you elected it's about governance.

This administration ONLY knows how to campaign, market and politic; they are completely unable to actually govern.

Their campaigns inevitably involve smears, personal attacks and distortions of things most of us would consider "facts". This is how they create their famous alternate reality - have the war you want where you want it when you want it - it the facts don't support it , well fix the facts (a la DSM)

They are going to come particularly hard after the press and go back to their previous campaign of any dissent is unpatriotic. They are starting this with McClellan as of yesterday. They also feel free to alter official White House transcripts of press conferences, apparently. Fineman yesterday called McClellan's approach "Nixonian" and "dangerous".

Anyway, their new style is "hit back". To quote one of my favorite old cheesy movies, The Bedford Incident - "If they fire one, we'll fire one".

69. Well then bring it on a$$holes.
Doesn't just prove the point that these people are waging a constant campaign because they lack the ability to GOVERN?????

70. Campaigning is all they know. They have no clue about governing.
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 09:44 AM by Heaven and Earth
This is what they have been doing since day one. Propaganda produced with taxpayer dollars, tightly controlled photo ops and events, intiatives that have nothing to do with governing, and everything to do with exciting some part of his base. Their true policies shrouded in secrecy

Sadly for Bush, he doesn't realize that this isn't going to work. The American people are tired of this approach to politics. They want actually leadership and transparency. The Democratic Party can and will deliver, starting in 2006.

72. Dirty campaigning is all they know

And they can't govern because their hands are too dirty from the politics.

Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 09:48 AM by SiouxJ
Whatever it is, that's what we should respond with. Makes a nice bumber sticker too.

78. I don't see how
the administration can recover from the press conference yesterday with Scott McClellan. All the dems have to do is create an ad using footage from that and play it over and over.

80. Good. Let's have a broad investigation
on whether the Bush administration manipulated intelligence in the run up to the war. Just what Congressional Democrats have been calling for.

As Harry Reid said yesterday in response to Frist & Hastert: "If the speaker and the majority leader in the Senate are interested in this, they should join with us in getting to the bottom of what went on in bringing this country to war."

That's good, because the truth is already out and public opinion has turned.

By beating this dead horse, they will just look like even bigger liars trying to lie their way out of their massive war starting lies.

Bring... It...ON.

Imagining the best that they can come up with.

Unfortunately, they are very effective at promoting noise, regardless of truth.

this could be code for their plans to surrender over a cordial crumpets-and-tea luncheon.

Time will tell. First they must carpetbomb the teacup factory.
