lately just mentioning bush gets the wildest responses
in normal conversations i've had lately, when the subject of gee dubya bush comes up, wails and moans immediately break out. i don't usually bring up politics in polite company, but here lately all i have to do is say the word 'bush' and man o man the shit starts flying.

'that sonofabitch is the worst disaster ever', or, 'are you serious, 3 more years of that fucker'?, or, 'can you believe how badly he's botched the iraq war'?, or, 'man these gas prices under bush are killin' me', etc. it's refreshing to hear an all out disapproval of the president now. it wasn't always thus remember.

3. Even my old GOP friends........
are sending me "W" jokes (insert pun here) and for them that's a solid admission of dislike. They would have defended him to their deaths not too long ago, even they have seen that the emperor has no clothes.

4. Well that is better than laughing at Clinton who we got a kick out of
Even the world thought another women was pretty funny. The problem is that hardly kills people even if he had a problem getting back to work. Maybe people are starting to wake up and put things in place. :boring:

5. I think we've had this exchange before --
"The world" didn't have the same reaction to Clinton as some Americans did. General reaction in Europe (and I heard this directly from friends there) was "what's the big deal?" or "so what?" I don't remember widespread shock or condemnation from other parts of the world, either.

And Clinton did not have a problem getting back to work, AFAIK.

9. I notice that too. And I never bring up politics
But even just the mention of his name, such as "Bush was in Brazil recently" gets people off on a rant. Even an image of him on a TV screen in a store... And it never used to.

I think its been going on for a while.

As I said, I don't discuss politics at all unless I know the person, partly because I think its rude and makes people unfomfortable, and partly because I have had some BushBots completely go insane on me before.

But I'd noticed, even before the 2004 election, that whenever the subject of Bush came up, people I was around (ones that I didn't know) would just kinda get quiet, and there would be awkward silence.

10. Too Soon To Tell
The old line goes, don't hit a guy when he's down, kick him, it's easier.

How many times in the years I've hung around this place that I've seen a "Bush is Toast" (hell, I used to have that icon) or how embarassing and so on, yet, this asshat still gets a free pass.

Yes, his popularity is nowhere near where it was (artificial)...and reality is starting to bite, but this isn't the time to be proclaiming victory, this is the time to get hungrier for more.

Finally, we have this regime on the defensive...not on the run, just covering its ass. It has an enabling corporate media that is trying hard to prop up this regime and fates can turn from good to bad very quickly. Let's congratulate the winners last night, but this is just a small, small step...there are hundreds of them (at least 435 I know of) that have to be taken in the year ahead.

11. Agreed.
Now while they are weak it is time to open fire. The Senate Democrats recent move was good, and we need more of that. Our goal should be to keep the focus on the crap storm gathering around the Bush Administration, tie the entire Republican Party to it, while at the same time offering a clear vision of what the Democratic Party has to offer as an alternative.
