How were the voter turnout numbers in an off year election?
we did well, but I am curious if there were a lot of people who also went to vote in an off year election

If so, this does not bode well for the repukes

1. Some Repug Sen. on Imus was saying that the Repugs just stayed
him--think he was talking of Virginia. More like spin to me.

fought by our fathers and grandfathers. i will never miss an election, its simply too important to blow off.

i've always believed if someone forfeits their vote in an election, that they'll have to pay a tax in order to vote the next one and so on. I know this'll discourage part time voters, but i think its a good lesson for americans who think they can skip an election year.

5. My repub coworker said she wasn't voting
She just kinda brushed it off. She knew the Dems were gonna win big.

Needless to say, I didn't argue with her about not voting. I just quietly smirked and it felt good!

6. 43%
turnout here in Va. Couldn't tell you how much was Dems or Repubs, we do not put our party affiliation down when we register to vote.

7. I just heard on NPR
that one Democrat in Virginia was motivated to go out and vote by Dubya's campaigning for the Republican candidate.

Without seeing any numbers, I'd suspect that in general an off-off year election like those yesterday have even lower turnouts than a regular off-year (non Presidential) election.

The reason the out-of-power party usually makes gains in the off year is because those are the voters most motivated to turn out. So we'll have to bide our time, support good Democrats, and hope that the Black Box voting doesn't steal the election.
