So, what Tricky Rick Santorum think about the major loss in Dover, PA
Dover isn't exactly a haven of liberalism, I would probably gander to say it's a strong republican base. Yet when ID was shove down the throats of the residences of Dover, PA; they voted NO to this neo-conservative pet cause.

You have to start wondering if Tricky Rick is starting to think that he is probably not going to win 2006. He's already like 15pts behind Democratric Frontrunner candidate State Treasure Bob Casey Jr. and Santorum has always had designs on going the next level - President. A major loss in 2006 will pretty much send Rick Santorum to the Rest Home of Republican Has-Beens - Political Action Group Lobbyists.

I personally could see Rick Santorum stepping down to save face. Then he could either try again in a few years in his home state of Virginia (which btw, he pretty much is a Virginia resident right now) or make a presidental run in 2008/2012.

10. PA is switching to 100% Touchscreens w/ audit trails disabled for 2006...
That, IMHO, is Sanitarium's best chance. :(

5. The "Santorum Amendment"...let's remember it in 2006!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Santorum

<snip>

The amendment would have required schools to discuss controversies surrounding scientific topics, and gave the theory of evolution as an example; many people interpreted this to mean that intelligent design would have to be taught in science classrooms.

7. I have problems with Bob Casey Jr., but Ricky Boy is gonna be GONE!
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 09:57 AM by gauguin57
And that's all that matters.

He will be gone in 2006 ... trust us, your PA Democrats ... we will give our last blood to kick evil Rick out of office.

Dover, PA, is in York County. One county over, in Lancaster City, the voters got rid of their two-term Repug mayor (Charlie "Boss Hogg" Smithgall) in favor of Democrat Rick Gray, and elected Democrats to all four open slots on the city council (ousting the Repug council president in the bargain)! The city council goes from 4-3 Repug majority to ALL SEVEN COUNCIL SEATS BEING DEMOCRATS starting next year! Woo-hoo!

There's a new wind blowing, people! We in PA must also protect Ed Rendell from a freaking football player (Repug Lynn Swann), so he'll be in a position to keep the PA Dem party moving forward.

Next year, people, next year. BYE BYE RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!

9. Wow! And Lancaster is about as 'red' as it gets in PA. Good for them.
And, as a PA resident, I second the bye, bye (P)ricky sentiment.

12. Actually Lancaster COUNTY is as red as it gets. It's a bit better in city
... there are, I believe, 6,000 more registered Dems. voters than Repugs in the city itself (though the outlying areas couldn't be redder if they painted themselves).

Unfortunately, the voters out in the red county ignored the county bar association's recommendation that the Repug. county judge candidate is UNQUALIFIED (and the Dem. candidate well qualified) -- AND the fact that the Repug worked in an attorney general's office that was involved in criminal activity (the AG later went to prison) -- and they voted the damned Repug into office by unthinkingly pulling the Repug lever. Idiots!

13. I found it amusing that Bush made 2 campaign stops to the Amish
in Lancaster County even though the Amish refuse to serve in the military AND about 10% of them are actually registered to vote.

This is probably one reason that Bush lost Pennsylvania!

14. Don't take it for granted. He will pull anything to get reelected.
Including Diebold, in precincts where it would make the difference.

15. People don't like extremism
This city is conservative, but they don't want extremist politicians. The Democrats presented a sensible alternative that fits with the residents of Dover beliefs.
