help protect Montana's Island Ranges

"Dangers to a Unique Landscape.

Central Montana’s “island ranges” don’t draw as much attention as some of Montana’s more famous landscapes, but their distinctive geology, wildlife, and natural values attract Montanans seeking quiet trails and a wide variety of non-motorized recreational pursuits. And these traditional recreational and wildlife values are threatened. As with public lands all across Montana, off-road vehicle use in the Little Belts has increased dramatically. The effect of ORV traffic is being felt. Hikers, horseback riders and hunters are being displaced as opportunities for a traditional, motor-free experience are diminished."

1. Get ready for the mobil unit affectionatos to clobber you.
They sure show up when we talk limits on snowmobile access ...

Nothing like the roar of burning fossil fuels to mess with peace and quiet. Nothing like people driving over fragile vegitation in a very arid place to mess with the cycles of life.
