A teacher finds a colleague working in a brothel. She is suspended. He keeps his job
From Roger Maynard in Sydney

A TEACHER got more than he bargained for when he arrived at a licensed brothel in Queensland — one of the prostitutes was a colleague at his school.

When he shared his discovery with other teachers the part-time prostitute was suspended from her teaching post by educational authorities who decided that her extra-curricular activities were incompatible with her day job.

The woman teacher, who is in her thirties, was transferred to another state school in Queensland after agreeing to quit the brothel.

But the furore caused by her double life refused to die down when parents alleged that she had returned to work at the brothel, apparently breaking her agreement.

1. How did the parents check that out?
"Um, honey, I went by that brothel on my way home from work today. Guess what? She's still there!!"

3. Those brothels are legal. And it is just so misogynistic to attack the
woman and leave the man alone. If they think her behavior is not OK why do they think his is?

12. I'd be willing to bet if it was a female teacher patronizing the brothel .
... she'd be fired, too.

4. Wouldn't it be ironic if she was using the extra cash to buy
School supplies. If it were the US I'd find that scenario quite believable.

5. The problem with this is that the male teacher kept his job

If she lost her job for being employed part-time in a legal brothel, should he not have lost his job for visiting the bothel?:wtf:

What difference does it make what sort of legal part-time employment someone has? Will they fire anyone who has part-time employment? Fer pity ever, it's her own time.

7. Yeah! That was my immediate reaction
if working at a brothel is a reason to fire someone, so should visiting a brothel be a reason.

11. My employment terms state that my department has the authority...
to decide if I am allowed to take an outside job. That is part of my contract. Thus if I were to not tell my department and start working at a brothel, they could fire me for not getting their approval (which they probably would not grant anyway), yet if I were to be a customer at a brothel, they have no authority because my terms of employment do not talk about my recreation.

prostitution and get these kind of things over with?

10. 'T'was ever thus...
the prostitute gets the punishment, but her patron gets off.

A prostitute is a scandal and a crime, but "whore-monger" is an obsolete term no longer applied.
