It isn't so much that the Dems won VA and NJ (they had democratic governors anyway), but the real story is the margin of victories, Virginia in particular.
Kaine won by six-points and carried some traditional Republican suburban counties. The most he had been ahead in the polls was three points.
In NJ, Corzine, was up in the most recent polls to five or six points, but ended up winning by about ten.
To top it off, Dems gained seats in the VA and NJ State Legislatures.
Another good bit of news was the St. Paul Mayorial race, where incumbent Mayor Randy Kelly, a Democrat who endorsed Bush last year, lost by 2-1 to a real Democrat Chris Coleman (no relation to the Senator). Many voters, said that the endorsement of Bush was a major reason for their anti-Kelly vote.
How Sweet it is!
