Commander-in-Chief - Who watched President Geena last night?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 01:31 PM by MsTryska
i thought htis episode was really great.

I thought VP-to-be Wesley Clark handled himself really well in the hearings

and I'm glad there is soem sort of continuing story finally - interesting to see what happens with HIV+ staffer, and who knew the Assistants for the SOTH and President Geena would be shacked up? That's an interesting arc.

I'm glad President Geena got all consititutional on the Press corps.

I am wondering tho what the republicans appear to have on VP Clark? next episode looks interesting.

oh i also loves the subtle stab with the Manned Mission to mars project from the dead prez.

1. I really liked the episode
:) I'm loving the show myself. She did great and I'm really liking the VP guy too. :) Only thing is now I wonder what that House speaker is going to do. And next weeks show looks great! The daughter is going to be in for some trouble sooner or later. She got lucky.

10. i find the daughter hilarious....
she was originally protrayed at least to me, as the family freeper, but she's so hot in the pants.

even the first episode she was sucking face with some kid. oh the irony.

11. LOL
I don't think she's a freeper but she seems more into the social scene. I think the boy is serious about his studies but also likes to have fun. Tsk tsk on him forging his mother's signature.

20. Why can't we have HER in the WH?
It's sad when you're wishing for a fictional character to replace the even MORE fictional character who is currently in office.

2. I love it!
One question though, I must have missed something since I missed last week. What is the issue with the VP's daughter and grand daughter, there has to be more to it then she was a single mother.

7. It's not known yet....
it's one of those bombshell secrets.

It can't possibly be something they can't handle tho. didn't the First Gentleman vet him?

I loved the stool during the press conference
"I'll answer all your questions until you have no more questions," What a concept!!

9. I agree!
I was seriously wondering what it must be like to have free and open press conferences where questions get answered and stuff.

5. I saw it for the first time last night
And enjoyed it. The main thing that struck me was that the show humanizes the role of President, and sets up a stark mass media contrast with and comparison between Geena Davis and George W. Bush.

That will, I feel, soon be a factor of some considerable weight in the public mind. We shall see.

8. yes!
at first i thought it would be cavity sweet wrap everything up in one episode type of stuff, but it looks liek they are moving beyond that a bit.

lots of interesting and recognizable characters and events...

so far the VP seems to be based on Wesley Clark
The SOTH imo is based on Bill Frist

It's essentially an Independent female who winds up as President of a Republican Administration. And then gets herself a Democratic VP to further piss people off and maybe affect some change along the way.

12. This is a prime time Soap Opera - Saturday Serial type thing
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 01:46 PM by SpiralHawk
The last time I got hooked on following such a show was Dallas, way back in the last millennium. My wife and I used to tune in weekly to find out what that scamp JR was up to, and the rest of the Southfork crew (Bobby, and Pam and Cliff and Miss Ellie). Hell, it was a good story -- and it developed solid new plot developments and twists every week.

CIC has the potential to hook an audience that way. We shall see if it happens. If so, it is going to have CLOUT by virtue of the contrast it brings into focus, and the possibilities it illuminates.

13. I remember watching "Dallas" too!
When I was younger my parents used to watch it a lot too. :) CIC is coming along very nicely and appears to be doing well in the raitings.

14. The constitutional aspect was obvious to me from the get go.
Anybody can ask anybody to resign, but of course the decision to do so up to the individual. The Pres doesn't get to fire the VP because the VP is elected by the voters, not hired by the Pres.

IMHO, it's an alright show, but all these kinds of shows end up being kind of high end soap operas.

But I'm a pretty harsh critic of TV by nature, so a lot of shows that are very popular I find kind of dumb.

I don't watch TV much, but for fun and entertainment I like Boston Legal and Desperate Housewives better. And they are both kind of humorous soap operas in their own ways.

Given that the budgets for producing the commercials on all these shows far exceeds the budgets of producing the shows themselves (by a factor of at least 2x) the highest artistic and production values are always to be found in the advertisments instead of the show, no matter what show.

That said, C&C isn't too bad.

18. Yes--and what was that twist at the end
with the two assistants sleeping together? When he looked at his returned resignation letter with that smile, it made me wonder if he really was the one who leaked, which leads to the next question...

where did the leak come from and what was the son doing? I missed the first ten minutes of the show.
