I feel pretty good today about the elections.........
I live in a red county in NY (Orange), Democrats captured 3 seats on the legislature now making it 10 VS 11, a first since 1970. That in itself was a feat since the Repugs. redrew the district lines this past year. So much for gerrymandering. I heard the Repug. county exec say that the county is changing away from a Republican majority. No kidding its been that way and will continue as long as the building boom continues. Neighboring counties went Democratic. There were some unexpected Repug upsets around the Hudson Valley. Things are changing and its not slow. My state defeated the budget reform which would put the state budget in the hands of the Assembly. That was a good idea, it was only a power grab from the Democratic controlled legislature. Even, Spitzer(Dem Gov candidate) was against it. Locally, progressive thinking Dem's & Reps got together and defeated our * like supervisor....goodbye George. I think things are trending back towards the Democrats in a big way. I am highly optimistic about the 06 elections. People are beginning to realize it is better to vote for your interests than party loyalty.
