NASCAR AND ARMY RECRUITERS
Well the Army has set up shop with NASCAR, They are at Nascar events, trying to recruit young people with video games, they showed one recruiter, playing a war video game with a kid, that had a level of a street scene in Iraq.

I wonder if there is a level where the kids get his legs blown off, and he has to spend months at a hospital in intense pain.

Or perhaps there is a level where someone from Helliburton gets rich, or a level where Helliburton sets up offshore bank accounts for its workers in Iraq, so they don't have to pay US Taxes.

I had to laugh at the person they interviewed.

One of them said, "WE are patriots down here, if your not a patriot, get out"

2. I saw that last night on ABC
I was appalled by this. I live in the South and I was offended that those nitwits thought that they were more patriotic than the people in the North. I kept yelling at the screen - Why aren't you in Iraq?? My husband gets mad when I yell at the TV, but this time he agreed.

8. My lovely wife
can't believe I holler at the TV. She is at least as liberal if not more so than me but she isn't quite as demonstrative. I live in South Mississippi and was called a coward in 2003 because I opposed us going to Iraq. Told that I should join the Army and go to Iraq to prove my love of our country. I showed the youngin my retired military ID Card and chatted with him about my tour in a combat zone. I asked him about his military service. He said he hasn't served - yet! I just beg them to question my patriotism.

6. Number of recruits scoring at bottom of Army's aptitude test has TRIPLED!
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 03:34 PM by Angry Girl
And the NASCAR crowd fits right in there, for the most part....
---
Army reaches low, fills ranks
12% of recruits in Oct. had lowest acceptable scores

The number of new recruits who scored at the bottom of the Army's aptitude test tripled last month, Pentagon officials said, helping the nation's largest armed service meet its October recruiting goal but raising concerns about the quality of the force.

Former Army Secretary Thomas E. White said the service was making a mistake by lowering its standards. "I think it's disastrous. You are throwing the towel in on recruiting quality," said White, a retired general whom Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld fired in 2003 over other policy differences.

"We have clear experience from the 1970s with recruiting a sizable number of people from the lowest mental categories," said White. After the Vietnam War, the Army accepted a higher proportion of low-scoring recruits, leading to training and discipline problems, he added.

To achieve last month's recruiting targets, 12 percent of those accepted by the Army had the lowest acceptable results. They scored between 16 and 30 points out of a possible 99 on an aptitude test that quizzes potential soldiers on general science, mathematics and word knowledge.

7. Look at the demographics
Less educated, lower middle class, lower income, and full of strange ideas of what "patriotism" is all about. Military cannon fodder, ripe for the picking.

9. That's *exactly* what Rangel was complaining about on Hannity yesterday.
But Hannity would have none of it...of course.

10. They have been doing this for quite a while.
They have a rather large display that goes to each event.

I have no idea how effective a recruiting tool it is.
