Frist & Hastert shouldn't throw stones in glass houses.
War and Piece:

I've heard differently than TNR's Michael Crowley. Gossip on the Hill that I've heard is that the presumed CIA black site prisons source was in fact one of the nine Senators who voted against the McCain amendment. The motive was something like "up and coming" Republican hot shot sort of thing. And that the people who called for an investigation did not realize that it hadn't come from the CIA but from a Republican Senate source at the time they made the call for it. After word of the Frist-Hastert call for investigation came out yesterday, staffers were turning to each other in amazement, "Do these guys realize what glass houses they are living in?" Then Lott made his comments that the story must have come from one of the Republican Senators briefed last week on it by Cheney. And Frist seemed to indicate he had never really signed such a letter calling for an investigation.

2. Something doesn't add up here.
When Jon Stewart asked McCain last night if he knew about the black site prisons he said he knew nothing of them until he read the Post article.

But Crowley seems to say McCain and Cheney had a testy discussion about them at the GOP Senators only meeting which was the day before the article. Hmmmm.

3. Frist & Hastert ... wouldn't it just figure?
As soon as I saw the story, it hit me as just another example of one Right-Wing Hand not knowing what the Other Right-Wing Hand was doing.

How STUPID did these two have to be to demand an investigation into something this Administration never wanted out there in the first place?

By speaking up, they managed to (a) draw even more attention to a subject that everyone wanted kept quiet, and (b) by doing so, admitted that what was alleged in the supposed 'leak' was actually true.

I told my husband that the Repugs were probably arguing about who was going to go out there and un-do the damage. When Lott came out with his announcement that it was a Repug who had leaked the info, I said, "Guess who lost the coin-toss?"

The more nervous these guys get, the stupider they become.

And I, for one, AM LOVIN' IT!!!!
