Cities vie for Bush library and Laura Bush "literacy center"
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 05:41 PM by Bluebear

If Texas Tech and Midland College are chosen as the site for the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Laura Welch Bush Center for Early Literacy, the college has committed $15 million to the project.

Private money would be solicited for the venture; however, no fund-raising would start until a location is selected for the library, Midland College President David Daniel said....

"Today, I very humbly tell you don't bet against us," he said during a press conference at City Hall. "We're in a horse race. We're down to the wire."

Cost of the George W. Bush Presidential Library is about $500 million, Miller said. He said $102 million has been raised so far, with $50 million coming from the city of Lubbock. Fundraising has stopped for now until a site is announced, Miller said.

25. I'd love to know what they plan to house there...
...when Bush has pretty much sealed everything generated during his Presidency for the foreseeable future, and there are only two books he's been known to read, and one of those was My Pet Goat.

$500 million for that?? Wow.
