Ever feel like you're losing your mind?
I swear, it seems like everyday is Opposite Day with this administration. Up is really down, in is really out, morning is really night. It kills me because I watch these people spew their lies and watch their actions completely contradict their words and I find myself constantly saying to myself, "Am I crazy?" "Didn't he just say....??" "How does that make sense??" "What the HELL are they talking about??"

Over time, it's making me feel like I'm losing my mind. Deep inside, I know THEY'RE the ones who are crazy, dishonest scumbags but I'm getting tired of questioning myself. Besides all of the corruption, torture, war and just plain evilness of this administration, that's just one more reason why I can't wait to get this bastard out of the White House. I'm tired of feeling like I've lost it!!

Am I alone in this??

The Bush administration has been waging a war on reality and sanity for five years now.

I am bewildered by all of it as well.
Most of all I cannot understand how they can get away with it.

Black is white.

The "Clear Skies" Initiative.

Up is down.

"No Child Left Behind."

In is out.

"Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction."

You are certainly not alone.

When *Bush was nominated to run in 2000 I thought I entered the Twilight Zone. The more I heard him speak the more I was convinced this schmuck would never get elected. :eyes:
Right! He didn't.

Before I found DU I thought I was freaking nuts but no longer. Another reason I felt I was nuts is my friends supported BUSH and so did the public. However reality is finally setting in

9. I understand....with me, it's all the stories I read on DU about the ...
..Religious Nuts in this country.
I truly feel like that they are going to be the downfall of this nation.
You just can't have that many ignorant people and still have a valid country...to many other countries are catching up with us in math and science and will leave us in the dust..while the people in Kansas sing "Onward Christian Soldiers"

It's going to get even kookier as each wheel comes off their wagon too. The good news is I think that enough people, even the apolitical/apathetic are seeing the Baghdad Bob/Comical Ali nature of admin spokespeople and its going to be a lot easier to sway people to our side.

11. A friend of mine's first job was in an insane asylum. After a couple
of years of dealing with screwballs on a daily basis, and learning to manipulate them somewhat on their terms, one begins to act accordingly - even off the job. 'When in Rome . . . '
When she noticed the "Normies" on the outside looking at her sideways she realized she was picking up on their mannerisms - and got out.

I'd like to say she's normal now, but how in Hell would I know?

14. You are not alone. What really freaks me out is that some
college educated people actually buy into this shit. I must admit that for a while after 9/11 I was so freaking angry that I was in "torture the Muslim bastards and kill their wives and kids so they don't breed any more of them" mode. I never bought into any form of justification, however, other than pure revenge, them or us, the end justifies the means, I was feeling nasty and I knew it. Remember that this was when we were getting lessons at work on how to open our mail and a suicide bomber was going off in Israel every other day. So I guess what I am saying is that for a little while there I was out of my mind a bit, but recovered my senses. Never did I succumb to the idea that Bush was a good or even an adequate "President." He ran like the chickenshit he is on 9/11. His crowning achivement was to grab a bullhorn and essentially say "we are going to kick some ass." Anybody could have done that in the fall of 2001.

I think the country as a whole is starting to come out of its "let's elect some really stupid lying assholes" mode, but it still seems like bizarro World to me.

20. people who lose sometimes are angry. i thought he should have
the other side of the story

a 2nd grade teacher told me this. my son was to write a letter to bush. was hard for him. first sentence was please stop the war. i talked to the teacher the next day and told her, huge smile, not all of us are republican you know. can you love us anyway.

she told me that she told jonas that to lose causes the anger and he needed to see other side

i am in panhandle of texas. my father, two brothers are repugs. my husbands parents repug. all our friends repug. all our neighbors repug. went to christian school, repug. this school repug

she wants my children to see the other side?

i ask, what about those 99% children. when are they going to get the other side. not in school anyway.

my children get their full share of other side and then some. but it just hit me today, how opposite the teacher talks of the reality we live in. repugs refuse to have the other side shown, they cannot afford it. and they make damn sure just one side is told

21. MsKandice01.. Welcome back to America
Here we are, the America you grew up in, the America you thought you knew, the one you remember. This is where we thirst for justice, and care about those less fortunate than ourselves, and for the state of the nation, and America's good name in the world. We have been shoved underground by a criminal syndicate that has stolen more, faster than anyone else in the history of time. And they have done it IN OUR NAME.

And because of that we cry for their transgressions and feel the shame that they are incapable of. And it is our job to put things right. And we cannot, cannot stop until we are back on the right road.

22. Thank you for that...
I get so tired of being told that I'm a "bleeding heart", like it's a bad thing, because I care about other people than myself. I'm so sick of "liberal" being turned into a dirty word. I'm so glad to have found DU. I feel "home" here and ever so often, just once in a while, I feel a little bit of hope.

23. KAL 007 did it for me....
i realize that a certain percentage of people really think that a man lives in the moon, which is made of cheese, and i'm not talking children, but grown men and women, but to think that the bfee pulled off the kal 007 (and the korean cia owned the damn airline!) scam in broad daylight still worries me. on august 31/03, the 20th anniversary of tha kal 007 shootdown passed w/out comment by the media, as if it was totally forgotten. The US nuclear forces were placed on the highest alert level since the '62 cuba missile crises, according to news reports at the time....regan was taking on the 'evil enpire' aka the ussr (which would disappear in a nearly bloodless changeover within 10 years!) after the 'evil empire shot down a korean airlines 747 that had strayed 300 miles off course, over several hours, and into the deadliest airspace on earth, the soviet missile area over kamchatcka, without the japanese noticing, or alaska atc, or even the russians themselves! yet the whole affair unfolded with grotesque predictability: the russians glibly tried to explain why they shot down a civilian airliner, and of course they looked like monsters, or that was what we were told....regan got his massive military budget through congress w/out the least trouble, and blah blah blah....if you do a google on kal 007, you find an almost embarassing bunch of rightwingers, who claim a whole buncha nonsense about the incident, and dominate whatever talk there is....it matters not that it's highly unlikely that a modern airliner could 'stray' into danger without its pilots (and the kal pilot was the 'best' in the company) at the least answering queries from the russians as to 'what the fuck are you doing?' etc ...it also doesn't matter that the whole affair happened 'out there' where regular news didn't work, and where all sorts of rumours could therefore be unleashed upon the world, yet the rightwingers still could pretend outrage that the russians shot down kal 007 because they hate americans, or wanted to kill old macdonald, or they hadn't shot it down, but made the 200 plus passengers prisoner, or that regan etc never punished them cuz nuclear war happen or it was martians did it(!)...seymore hersh wrote a hurry up book to explained that america 'provoked' the soviets by conducting military exercises over kamchatka at the very time kal 007 (conveniently) strayed into the area, iow the blame was both sides, BOTH! that it just didn't make sense WASN'T A PROBLEM, like later on at the wtc, the newsmedia just ran the story incessantly, without telling anybody anything (and acting breathlessly awed by the experts in the government/military/secret service who were dealing with it)...you can tell kal 007 was a total scam (the plane probably was being remotely controlled when it crashed, it's pilot and passengers already dead; the ntsb has never investigated the incident, and like the jfk murder or 911, the purpose of the operation maybe just the powerful goofballs entertaining themselves or something(?)) by the way it is skillfully forgotten.
it didn't make sense in 1983, and it makes less sense looked at now, so the bfee just bured the incident, although the victims families were all fabulously paid off...regan. like bush, probably thought it was just a case of 'really terrible pilots'
hahaha
