especially interesting when it came to discussing Lott's revelation.
Here's how Bill and Byron danced around this inconvenient part of the story:
1.York started with a favorite dodge of his friends in the Bush admin (especially Rummy) -- "I haven't seen a transcript of Lott's remarks."
2. They framed it as "Lott said the information came from Senators." They didn't mention that Lott said these were Rebublican senators, or that they had been briefed on the very information that was reported in the story.
3. The best, lamest, most desperate one of all. York says that it's unlikely that there would have been time to write the story since the meeting had taken place just the day before the story was published. He even went as far as saying that the reporter, Dana Priest, is known for being thorough in her reporting, so she couldn't have done the story in time. This statement was especially amusing said on a radio program that had been bashing Dana Priest for a solid week.
