They are finally feeling an ill-wind blowing after yesterday's elections.

A little flop sweat showing up on their brow?

3. I imagine they feel
their fannies hanging out now that Bush's approval numbers are so low and he apparently is going to be a negative campaign factor for them in their upcoming elections.

Haha! Suckers.

2. By god they should be worried.
I'm not saying this is over by a damn side. But how long did they honestly think this lunacy could go on? It's like they're running one big PONZI scheme and expect to pull in unsuspecting rubes forever.

4. No, they need an issue next year
Your gas prices are so high because Democrats won't support drilling, expanded refineries, bla bla bla. We need to innoculate with alternative energy policy NOW, and be very loud about it.

5. Bush/Cheney are oil guys and
we haven't had these high prices before they went into office. That's what people will remember.

I can't remember what the approval numbers were for drilling in the ANWR but people weren't for it.

I don't think people believe that drilling in the ANWR will solve our oil problems.

The Democrats do need to come out with a alternative energy policy asap, as you say. I agree.

6. Hot button issue
It's one of those things where people say they don't support it, until the price of gas goes up. People tend to be as environmental as their pocketbook allows. That's what I'm afraid of. But if we get out in front and start screaming about the alternative energy policy that we already have, then we can get people behind that solution and take away at least one issue.
