1. Down here in Charlotte, the winds have been gusting all morning.
And it's very dry.

Feels like the Santa Ana winds that I know well.... and which always means trouble.

2. I am on the south side of the mountain, so I'm not getting the wind now.
This Red Flag business is scary, though. I've got one way out of here and that is on a 2 mile stretch of winding gravel road in a heavily wooded mountain area.

4. Mountain fires are focking scary, Demo. They burn quickly and hop
in multiple directions.

i've seen many a canyon fire near Malibu and Topanga. Do you keep the brush cut back around the house?

Have you soaked your roof?

8. I remember the "Blue Northers" at Ft. Sill.
It's hard to hold the artic winds at bay with a two-strand barbed-wire fence.

Anyway, I guess I won't cook out tonight.

5. I was driving though Quebec last night & almost got blown off the road
It had been a cold day when I went up there on business, but by the time I drove back, an incredible wind and lightning storm was passing through from some wierd warm front. Torrential sideways downpour on the big highway, almost blowing tractor trailers right off the road. Scary stuff right outta nowhere.

6. In SoCal we call this Santa Ana conditions. It's when the blast furnace
gets going and the arsonists know to strike.

7. First time I'd ever seen one either. Did know about the wind, it's
been howling around up on the mountain tops all day.

Hope the smokers thowing their butts out along the BRP are careful today.
