He just did another great job on Harball tonight. You know I am about the hardest on the media around here but give credit where credit is due. Shuster is on it.

David Shuster
MSNBC correspondent

David Shuster is a MSNBC correspondent based in Washington, D.C. He reports daily for the network’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews.”

Most recently, Shuster led “Hardball’s” daily reporting on the 2004 Presidential campaign. As part of this coverage, Shuster headed up the MSNBC “ad watch team,” fact checking and analyzing more than 150 campaign commercials throughout the course of the election. He also covered both national political conventions and all of the presidential campaign primaries.

In the fall of 2003, Shuster spent two months in California leading “Hardball’s” coverage of the recall of Governor Gray Davis and the election of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the winter and spring of 2003, Shuster reported on the invasion of Iraq from US Central Command in Doha, Qatar for NBC News and MSNBC. His hourly “live” reports aired in prime time in the U-S, making this the most visible assignment for Shuster since joining NBC.

From 1996 - 2002, Shuster was a Washington, D.C. based correspondent for the Fox News Channel. He was at the Pentagon on 9-11 and led Fox’s coverage of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan. During the Clinton administration, Shuster led Fox’s coverage of the Clinton investigations including “Whitewater,” the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Starr report, and the Senate impeachment trial.

2. He showed video of Cheney denying the Atta/Prague story was true
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 07:50 PM by NNN0LHI
Cheney jumped back and said "noooooooo, I never said there was an Atta/Prague connection" to the interviewer. Then Shuster showed another tape of Cheney from a year earlier saying that there was positive evidence of an Atta/Prague meeting. Lot of other good stuff too. I only use 2 fingers to type so if someone would care to add to this I would appreciate it.

I had already made a mental note to get the transcript and post it when it is up tomorrow. Hope that helped.

6. He left Faux and likes Hardball. Thinks Matthews is tough.
He was asked a while back if he could do this kind of news on Fox....he hesitated a bit and said, "No", with that little smile he has.

And he prefers political reporting to the hurricane stuff.

9. Lot of people don't like Hardball at all
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 08:01 PM by NNN0LHI
And if they are not paying close attention I can understand why that is. Tweety's problem is he has to let the Bush apologists come on and not beat up on them for their lies. Because if he didn't he would go the same way as Donahue. He has to act impartial to stay on the air. Just have to take the good with the bad. He is at least covering stuff no one else will touch. Got to hand him that. I usually don't miss it. He usually tees it up pretty well for KO right after Hardball. If it wasn't for Tweety's pull at NBC I think KO would have been canceled long ago.

8. if only because he's the only guy on MSNBC who can pronounce Qatar.
I love that bit in Control Room where they show that MSNC was the one insisting it be pronounced "Gutter" for "consistency."
