Rebuttal to "Rove is no genius" post and end-of-the-week rant
I don't know who is responsible for Bush being in office or for his latest bad press. But, to me....

...It is miraculous that a man of Bush's meager capabilities and obvious shortcomings was installed as President, pillaged the national treasury, raped the environment, handed trillions to corporate friends, lied his way to an unecessary and unsuccessful war, installed lobbyists and cronies in all departments, cowed or otherwise controlled the press, drove the education system into a ditch, thumbed his nose at middle America, marginalized people of science and education, turned his back on people in need in New Orleans, brought back Negroponte and Poindexter and Armitage, distanced himself from traditional foreign country friends while at the same time told his enemies to bring it on, has a problem with alcohol and maybe drugs, cut veterans benefits, booted social security reform, ran another country into the ground with incompetent management, talks about the patriotism but was probably AWOL, used a fake journalist in press conferences to give softball questions, wouldn't talk to 9/11 commission all by himself without Cheney so that commissioners "could see how well they work together", sits for seven minutes during an attack on the US reading My Pet Goat, used universally reviled chemical weapons on civilians, is a walking reverse Midas but won't admit a mistake or bad news, has virtually no redeeming qualities as a president or businessman or thinker that I can see, IS AFRAID OF HORSES, FALLS OFF HIS BIKE, CHOKES ON PRETZELS....

....and is #%!!$& STILL IN OFFICE!!!

They probably can't believe they've gotten away with as much as they have! I venture to say that in the beginning they expected all kinds of outrage, disgrace, bad press, etc over the years and still thought that pursuit of a radical agenda would be worth it.

So...I don't know if it's Rove or someone else responsible, but the fact that this Bush guy was inaugurated then went rogue while we have watched and then didn't prevent another term is...AMAZING and MIND-BLOWING!

And...He's...Still....There.

2. They have every reason to kick his ass out....he has been giving the prez
very good advice, mostly how to lie cheat steal...

How much money is Rove getting anyway? whatever it is...its too much.

The advice given clearly shows a focus on how to LOOK GOOD, not DO GOOD. Just look at the evidence...what Good Has Bush done these past 5 years...???

Its been all bad baby, all BAD.

4. Yes, he's predictable, but he is about the best in digging up dirt,
and if he doesn't find any dirt, he make some up. he has no problem with doing whatever it takes to win!

None of the Dems want to go down in the gutter where Rove fights his fight, so they better damn well find a better way to fight his tactics or he'll continue to win at any cost! The end justifies the means!

3. There are millions & millions & millions of assholes in America
and Junior won their votes overwhelmingly because they know he's one of them.

5. He only did it because 90% of the media protected him and the voting
machine owners.

6. I agree
Although he's done this country much harm, it's all been about image, and (t)he(y) have been masterful about controlling image. I might clarify it to be an evil genius, but I have to give this group (and the GOP in general) credit for their astonishing ability to get their message across. It's the WRONG message, and what they're doing to the country is nothing short of raping it and throwing away decades of progress, and making the next decades much more difficult - indeed, much the harm may have been irreparable for quite some time.

That said, I have to appreciate how they've run their machine so far. If only they had used that same power for good, Bush could have been an incredible president (if he were capable) putting that motivational machine to good use. Instead, they looted the country and hijacked our agendas.

Their biggest political strategic mistake, I think, was going for a second term. No one wants to give up power, usually, but did they really think they could hold it together for another 4 years? They could have moved to put another Republican in there and Bush could have ridden out on a wave of glory, but they overreached, and anytime you overreach, you win in the short term but lose in the long term.

I suspect the Republicans are about to lose in the long-term big time.

I hope.

End of story.
