Freedom loving Democrats

So, as Democrats / Progressives, how much do you prefer 'Choice' over 'Government Fiat'. It seems to vary from topic to topic around here.

Lots of heat when conservatives are doing the regulating, but more than happy to provide the regulations when the progressives are.

Personally, I disagree with that notion. We've got a few things we need to protect (e.g. the environment), but for the most part, I'll always err on the side of individualism.

Don't get me wrong, I do this with the goal of near universal self-sufficiency within a framework of free exchange, with everyone having ample access to employment, education, health, and entertainment. The 'Good Life' for all, if you will. I just don't think that anyone can provide this environment from a central committee.
