ABCNEWS online release Bush poll, breaking news
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/Politics/iraq_economics031014_poll.html

(snips)
An ABCNEWS/Washington Post poll finds that nearly six in 10 Americans — a new high — call U.S. casualties in Iraq "unacceptable," more than double its level when Baghdad fell last April. Bush's approval rating for handling terrorism more broadly, while still high, now matches his career low. And most continue to disapprove of his handling of the economy, a critical election-year benchmark.

Net result: If the 2004 presidential election were today, 46 percent of Americans say they would vote to re-elect Bush, while 47 percent would favor the Democratic candidate — the president's weakest showing to date in this so-called generic horse race. (It's 44 percent to 49 percent among registered voters). Bush's lead in this test is down from +13 in April, +8 in August and +5 last month.

16. Gallup's Credibility Has Just Been Demolished
If you look at Gallup's last three polls you'll see something very interesting. The poll taken 9/19-9/21 has Bush at 50%. The next one taken around 2 weeks later on 10/6-10/8 has him at 55%. Around 2 weeks time is a normal break between their polls if you look at the history. However, they did something very interesting. They took another poll 2 days later 10/10-10/12, that had him at 56%. Now why did they do that?

This chart says it all, he may not be as low as others at the same point but unless he starts another war these numbers are going in one general direction.

14. thanx for the chart and notice
how it deflates yet another recent winger TP: "Oh, all Presidents tend to see their numbers fall off in their 3rd year."

True enough, I suppose, for Carter and Bush I (IMO, Bush II can't be considered given they are making a comparative statement re: the Cowering Codpiece.)

But the opposite appears the case for Reagan and Clinton, both climbing in their third years (their "fit" is *really* interesting, even in the last two last two years when the diverge only to run in tight parallel.)

The point being that the dem's counter-TP should be "Indeed, **prez's who don't go on to see a 2nd term** see their numbers decline in their 3rd year...."

10. better not tell Lucianne Goldberg
she's been trumpeting that one fluke poll by gallup on her site all day as definitive proof that dumbya is an invincible man-god who shall smite the lib'ruls once and for all

we wouldn't want to burst her bubble or anything.
but i think i'lll email it to her, as i love to get her usual stammering, insipid attempt at a response
