Anybody see the * speech? When the soldiers "clapped," it was obvious
they were responding to a cue. Zero affect. Zero enthusiasm. Just following orders.

6. I seriously doubt it! All military are taught to respect the
Commander in Chief! I know! My son was in the Navy for 16 years. He hated Clinton and you could tell, but he NEVER said that, nor did he say anything against him in the eight years he was pres. But you could tell, just by the way he said "That my CIF." Not disrespectful, but sure NO enthusiasm either.

9. Maybe Karl had better start dressing up some actors to sit there. The
troops just aren't trained to fake enthusiasm well enough for national TV!

11. Using them like that was borderline illegal.
To the degree Junior was campaigning, which is 100% of the time, military personnel are not permitted to participate in political campaigns in uniform. People in the military surrender their civil liberties (or, more aptly, put them in 'escrow') and that includes speech. Under this regime, they're permitted to show support that is intended to be interpreted as partisan support but not permitted to show disagreement - that'd be interpreted as anything from disrespect to mutiny. It's an illicit use of military personnel, imho -- no matter what President (or resident) does it.

8. CNN has a short clip. Click "Bush fires back at critics."
It's a fairly tight shot, so you don't see a large number of the soldiers behind him, but you can judge for yourself what the people in the shot are thinking.

This speech probably comes off a lot better on the radio....

7. I noticed that too.
The very short clip on NBC made me think, "these people all have kind of a WTF look on the faces".

I hate to say this but, put a fork in Chimpy, he's toast!!!

12. Loved Keith's remarks about it: says that the 57% of ys that
thinks he's full of shit were called ___. Crap. I think it was untrustworthy. You know, the usual shit. I love Keith Olbermann. Bush's speech during Veteren's Day was a disgrace.
